Selling my 22 ST allocation when it arrives

Title say's it all and it really sucks because I was looking forward to parking it in the garage but I ordered this ST on birthday, August 5th, 2021, and now 7 months later, almost to the day, I just received my production email for an April build date. Now I totally get we had a new vehicle shortage crisis, and there were a shit ton of variables; chip shortages, supply chain/logistics issues etc etc, but by the time this ST makes it to the dealer I'll be a good 9 months into it which is crazy.

As bad as this sounds, I'm planning to buy it and flip it, hopefully for a profit. as I was able to buy a brand new 21 Chevy Tahoe RST, for sticker, back in November.

All that said, are any of you still seeing dealer mark up's on these STs? This past summer, in Southern California where I live, dealers were marking them up between $7.5k to $10k when a unit arrived so I was curious if you all are still seeing this now.

Dealers aren't doing much markup "if any at all" on customer orders. It may be different for those who are buying off the dealer lot. But like @Jeppo said Ford is starting to crack down on it.

Are you talking markup on MSRP or dealer cost?
Yes, markup over MSRP for a unit on the lot, not ordered by a consumer.

I heard that too but not sure if it's actually being 'enforced' on units that hit the lot on dealer orders, not customer orders.

It is a larger dealer so there is that too, but yes I agree with you there. The other used ones that I have seen go thru that dealer as we have been shopping (before putting in a custom order) were at the same price as a new one despite having 10-20k miles.

My local Bay Area dealer is selling an ST for $7,500 above MSRP. That is a model on the lot. In fact every vehicle they have on the lot has a mark-up on it.

My local dealer is selling for between $2500 and $5000 markup over MSRP for any ST on the lot. Its really disheartening and shady and makes me glad I bent them over a barrell in April '20 when I got mine and they were begging for a sale.

Most if not all of the different manufacturers in the Bay Area are adding dealer mark-ups to their cars on the lots. Not just a Ford thing by any stretch.

Hopefully this "insanity" will end, and the market will return to normal. In all of my years, I've never paid MSRP for any vehicle, always worked the deal in my favor, or I'd get up and walk out. To the OP, wish you the best of luck.

Dealers here are discounting them under MSRP.

Im hearing MSRP is the norm now, but surcharging on top of MSRP is playing dirty IMHO. I would be terminating any sales relationship with a dealership thats doing that. When the tables turn they would be dead to me.

We are MSRP everything except certain SVT products, MachE GTs, and Broncos that become available if the original orderer backs out... no X-plan, A/Z is approved.

The only time we are marking up a customer order is on the Bronco Raptor.. which is between 15-20k mark up.
