Ford sold somewhere around 40k STs since '20. There are 5600 members on this site, many of who don't even own an ST, probably 3K who have maybe posted here a couple of times and aren't even slightly active. And still, CFG (you know who I'm talking about) still thinks his polls are statistically significant...they are not. He's also under the impression that the few hundred people who are actually active on this site somehow also signifies something significant since "we're not seeing continuous reports of breaks....".

He's neither funny nor informative. Although, he did have one good post dealing with the ST versus the competition. It's taken me 2 1/2 years to get to the 1000 post club, and I'd like to think I've added some good content to the site. He's over 800 in four months, meaning he'll pass @UNBROKEN by next June! Most likely with 3 vs 4 bolt posts.
Lets not forget the Platinum and KR owners as well which im sure 90% of em are not in the forums

There's a dude on a ton of Explorer ST youtube videos with a church fireman user name or some crap like that. Wonder if it's the same person. He's always arguing with people in the YT comments. I think he's also a Stinger GT owner or was LOL

Anyone else dealing with / waiting for a rear diff cover like myself?

T+ 6 weeks now and no updates from Ford ... simply no ETA / backorder.

Long ago, I had a new car with a blown engine that was repaired by the dealer in 4 weeks.

Anyone else dealing with / waiting for a rear diff cover like myself?

T+ 6 weeks now and no updates from Ford ... simply no ETA / backorder.
Cover? I took mine in because of the rear diff clicking when accelerating/decelerating and clicking when switching between drive/reverse while sitting with brake applied. It just started at 23k miles. Dealer applied recall, emergency brake (which I strongly dislike) and 'ordered parts to fix'. They didn't elaborate on the parts ordered, so I'm just laying low to see how this plays out. It's been three weeks, I will wait several more, then follow-up with dealer.

I'll try to get a parts list. If you look at the rear diff area under the car where the fractured bolts are appearing, you'll see the "cover" so they tell me. I'm not car smart (flew jets, couldn't fix 'em to save my life). But it's that "cover" or casing / cover that the bolts are holding in place. It's supposed part of the recall parts for this fix. All I know is I'm now approaching 6 weeks without my wheels. Sooooo aggravating.

Here's the part you aren't going to like; they won't start shipping those 200/week until 11/7 for a total of 4k pieces.”

If Ford can continue to make new Explorers to sell for a profit then it can shut down the line and send those to those of us who paid for / own these cars already. This is unacceptable sticking it to existing customers.

This needs to change. Anyone have a contact to start a lemon law action? Thanks in advance.

Here is link to the Colorado lemon law. It looks like yours will qualify due to the time it has been out of service. They do recommend contacting an attorney for it. Good luck with it. I would want to get out from under it also. Once repaired the way the warranty for this repair reads it sounds like you have none on this part any more. Keep us posted.

We already know FORD has officially reported more than "dozens", they reported exactly 235 at around the same time that person wrote.

Which mathematically is still an infinitesimally small number compared to the 252,936 vehicles effected (.092% or less than one tenth of a percent).

If just 5% incurred a bolt shear, there would be over 12,000 incidents and we'd see a huge number of people with breaks. But we don't.
Update - Ford has outsourced 4,000 rear axle covers (I was mistakenly told it was a rear diff cover at first ... apologies, no my strong suit). See below. They are starting to ship 200 a week starting November 7th. 20 week run.

Update - Ford has outsourced 4,000 rear axle covers (I was mistakenly told it was a rear diff cover at first ... apologies, no my strong suit). See below. They are starting to ship 200 a week starting November 7th. 20 week run.
I do not see FORD's outsourcing of 4,000 rear axle covers as meaning they have encountered any more than the 235 breaks they originally reported. Just that because of those breaks, they will eventually replace as many of those covers as possible (with 4,000 being the starting point).

Put another way, I do not make conclusions beyond the facts that I have been given.

Kind of like my not seeing a glass as half full, nor as half empty. I just see it for what it really is, a glass containing one half of one substance and one half of another substance. So unless FORD provides us with more concrete data, it would be negligent of me to make any other conclusions.

Interesting. So that would add fuel to the ongoing debate of "the 4 bolt is less problematic than the 2 bolt" controversy, making it somewhat moot.
