...Only negative is my gas mileage has completely tanked. 100% worth it though.
That is, however, something that is completely within your control.

Oh yeah I know. I should clarify it’s not that the tune has bad gas mileage. It’s just so fun to punch it.

I haven't been on the highway since installing - looking forward to gauging any difference on I-95

Before tune I did only one 0-60 run with the dragy and got 5.56. Today I did a dragy fun with the FP tune. 0-60 4.90 1/4 13.30.

I enjoyed it. Keep the negative comments to yourself. This is for anyone interested in what a tune from Ford performance will do on a completely stock 2022 Explorer ST.

Do I need to “retune” if I’m adding the AFE cold air intake after I’ve already added the Ford performance tune? If yes, how is that done?

It’s not done. They won’t retune for any other parts. You’re stuck with what you have until you go with a custom tune.

Wouldn’t have made a difference if I put the intake on before I tuned it with the FP tune?

For about $200 less, anyone wanting a safe - and mild - tune could simply pick up an SCT X4 and plug in their 93 version. You can always add a custom tune later, and you don’t have the ridiculous auto parking brake, and you can shut off the stop/start (saves another $100), and it’s not recommended against towing. The warranty from Ford is a minor carrot, but 99.99% of those that go this route will probably never have issues anyway.

The FP Tune, as well as many others, are "canned" tunes meaning "what you see is what you get". Your tune is the exact same as the tune Billy Bob from Omaha bought. You can add all the parts you want but your tune can't be modified to accommodate the new parts.

You can modify the FP canned tune. I had it done on the FP tune in my mustang. You need to use HP tuning software to do it, but it can be done.

I thought the tune was locked? I'd almost be interested in getting the HP Tuning kit to turn on the gear display alone and keeping the aftermarket tune intact.

I can't speak on the ExST tune being locked, but the mustang tune is not locked. The FP tune is proprietary and HP tuning software is the only one that can access it.

The point is…the guy that asked can’t just send a request in to Ford for a modification. It’s not something they offer and if their tune is modified it surely voids the “warranty” everyone is so protective of.

I don't understand why you get so defensive and shitty about the FP tune

I don't see it that way. He is only stating facts IMO.
C'mon, this is him being shitty. He's always like this, anytime someone does something other than how he would do it, he acts like that person is stupid. It's not just the FP tune he does this with. Honestly he's got a shit attitude and always has. Sure he has a lot of knowledge and even a nice Explorer, but his shit attitude sucks

I don't think he's being "sh...y" about it, he just doesn't think it's worth the money for the benefit. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

The other thing is pointing out to those like the recent poster that this is not a tune that will take advantage of modifications. Something I also pointed out to someone in a different thread. Some people may not be aware of all the pros and cons of a "canned tune".

No doubt. And he is not alone in that opinion! I am definitely a "to each their own" kind of guy but I didn't give the Ford tune a thought and bought a ZFG tune. I completely understand why some like the idea of the Ford tune. Just not for me.

So if I made a comment like "...his beloved ZFG tune that he so adores", no one would think I would being shitty?

For the record, I couldn't care less as I do not have a tune on my Explorer, but he's one of the worst about stating his opinions as facts
