Unfortunately, I have an issue with doing that because of where I live, which is it down in the New York City area. I can never park the ST anywhere near enough to my home to get a steady Wi-Fi signal so that it can update the software.
As I drive, I connect the ST to my hotspot on my cell phone. But the sync software is set up to not be allowed to update via your mobile devices hotspot which I think is a load of crap and would love to know how Ford sync knows the Wi-Fi signal comes from an iPhone hotspot.
As I drive, I do hit the scan and update software option and it always does complete and comes back with a message that it’s updated. But honestly, I have no idea what the hell it’s updating but I do know the ford servers are not been updated with my latest install of sync software.
McDonalds usually has hotspots, might try that.
Also, use CHROME browser to upload the file. Just did it myself 10 minutes ago, near instant transfer & confirmation.
Can't find that interrogator app on the ford.com site, this is the link to the download on the dutch website, maybe it works for us cars as well.

Basically the same as a normal update, unzip the package on a USB stick (minimum 4GB, i use an 8gb stick) which has been ExFAT formatted. Get in the car, turn on the engine, remove all other USB connected devices and then plug in the USB stick. Wait untill you get the message "INSTALLATIE VOLTOOID" (Installation complete, not sure if this'll be translated automatically on your car) and then a log file should be created on the USB stick, you can then proceed to upload the log on the ford website.
Reminder: I'm not a Ford tech, so i am not 100% this app will be compatible. Otherwise you might want to call the ford helpdesk or your dealer.
On the dutch site, the download for the app is shown on the 'confirm update' page on the ford site, just scroll down and it says "Problemen bij het maken van een logbestand tijdens een sync3-update?' (problems during the creation of a log file when updating Sync3). But can't find a similar page on the US site.
