Just downloaded and performed the update for mine.

Filename was SYNC3_912185358_Update

Used a USB stick to perform the update, took about 12 minutes if even that.

Also about ten minutes here for the update from USB. Of course as usual it will never show on the web page. One interesting thing though was just before I uploaded the confirmation file, the web showed an installed version. It was not what is installed but just the version that was installed at the factory. Always before it was blank. Checking today it has gone back to not showing any version.

It’s so frustrating that Ford will not update my Ford app with the correct or current version of sync software I have. It just keeps telling me that I need to update.

So once every few weeks I download the file as if I was installing via USB. Unzip the file And I open the file with the LST extension using notepad. The very top line tells you what version of sync k you are about to install. If it’s the same as the one I have, I just delete everything and wait for another couple weeks to try again.

Have you uploaded a log file of the current installed version? They have a program called 'interrogater_AD' for that purpose.

I have uploaded a log file no less than 2 dozen times. So I gave up.

Please tell me more about this program called interrogator_AD?

I had the same issue with getting the Ford servers to acknowledge my vehicle was updated. Then it was explained to me you can get it to acknowledge by connecting to WIFI and requesting any updates. That's the only way it updated for me.

Unfortunately, I have an issue with doing that because of where I live, which is it down in the New York City area. I can never park the ST anywhere near enough to my home to get a steady Wi-Fi signal so that it can update the software.
As I drive, I connect the ST to my hotspot on my cell phone. But the sync software is set up to not be allowed to update via your mobile devices hotspot which I think is a load of crap and would love to know how Ford sync knows the Wi-Fi signal comes from an iPhone hotspot.
As I drive, I do hit the scan and update software option and it always does complete and comes back with a message that it’s updated. But honestly, I have no idea what the hell it’s updating but I do know the ford servers are not been updated with my latest install of sync software.

McDonalds usually has hotspots, might try that.

Also, use CHROME browser to upload the file. Just did it myself 10 minutes ago, near instant transfer & confirmation.

Can't find that interrogator app on the ford.com site, this is the link to the download on the dutch website, maybe it works for us cars as well.
https://secure.ford.nl/content/dam/...-support/update/documents/Interrogator_AD.zip

Basically the same as a normal update, unzip the package on a USB stick (minimum 4GB, i use an 8gb stick) which has been ExFAT formatted. Get in the car, turn on the engine, remove all other USB connected devices and then plug in the USB stick. Wait untill you get the message "INSTALLATIE VOLTOOID" (Installation complete, not sure if this'll be translated automatically on your car) and then a log file should be created on the USB stick, you can then proceed to upload the log on the ford website.

Reminder: I'm not a Ford tech, so i am not 100% this app will be compatible. Otherwise you might want to call the ford helpdesk or your dealer.

On the dutch site, the download for the app is shown on the 'confirm update' page on the ford site, just scroll down and it says "Problemen bij het maken van een logbestand tijdens een sync3-update?' (problems during the creation of a log file when updating Sync3). But can't find a similar page on the US site.

I have never been able to do update via wi-fi because whenever I have it check for updates it always says it is up to date even though it is not. It will not allow you update if it says it is already up to date. Thus I always use USB.

The same for me. Only updated with a Flash Drive. Connecting to WiFi it has never shown an update available.

I've had all of these same issues. I had to update via USB because Wi-Fi would always say I was up to date. Now I'm still seeing that I need an update on the Ford site despite uploading the log file. I guess I'll just have to keep checking forums to see what the latest version is.

Its such a cluster F%$# system with absolutely no progress status of where the software is at any time during the update process.

I'm still pissed that they can't do what everyone else does and power up the APIM, GPS module and SiriusXM module on remote start but leave the screen blank. Then upon a START button activation the screen wakes up and you don't sit there for 2-3 minutes not being to touch anything on the screen. Unacceptable in a modern vehicle, especially a $50-$60K vehicle.

I need to time mine now but I swear that within a minute, everything is up and running on mine.

It doesn't impose very much confidence when you call in and the rep tells you that the feature to confirm update on the website has been broke for some time! I told him the CHAT feature on ford's website isn't even active. Totally defunct system all the way around. I know I have the updated version as I had to do it USB just like others have posted because WiFi from vehicle said it was current. Uploading the log file doesn't work and confirmed by the ford rep. that it won't. Tried searching for update via WiFi after USB update as that has cleared it up for some but nope. My account dashboard still tells me there is an update available. Unbelievable.............

Aside from the minor first world problem of a website not being up to date with the correct info, why does it matter? They are never going to make the system better we have what we have and you will always find out about a new release on the forums or facebook anyway.....

They can I believe, although I’ve always done mine via usb. But I will say with these systems, it very well could of been a bug and just restarted itself for no reason lol
