This may be more of a SAFETY feature, but when driving about 25 mph, I thought I was switching into SPORT mode. My dash starting sending me errors & alerts because 'I was spinning the wrong knob'! With 2 knobs are near one another, I'm certain this will not be the first time. The light on the knob went to R but I kept driving forward. I quickly turned it back to D. Luckily, the car did not slam into reverse (thank goodness). Just thought you know encase you accidentally do this yourself!
did that the first few weeks we had the car, went from sport to normal but accidentally turned the gear shifter from drive to park. considering the system is fully electronic, it knows better.

I may have learned why the "driving assist" (in cruise control) sometimes over accelerates when it's creeping up on a vehicle ahead of you. Please note, the vehicle ahead is slowing down to a stop. It feels as though the "driving assist" is going to bump the car in front of us in the last few feet before stopping.

My theory is: if you have your vehicle is SPORT mode and you are using "driving assist", the higher torque can get you closer than you want to be to the vehicle in front of you. I've made it a rule to never combine the two features when driving off highway.

UPDATE: Cleaned up the spelling/grammar

If you press the traction control button, It cycles Traction Control on and off so you can let the tires get rowdy. However, if you hold it for about 5 seconds, a slide bar will pop on your instrument cluster that will say “Hold to disable AdvanceTrac.” Once finished, this will disable Traction Control AND Electronic Stability Control.

It doesn’t feel much different to me, but I’m not Ken Block.

If you have questions, someone smarter than me will have to explain beyond the link below...

traction control will control wheel spin, like on a wet road from a red light turning green, or slight wheel spin on a turn
advance trac will take over brakes and throttle to keep the vehicle in control during, what the computer thinks might be a loss of control. My 2011 F150 has had the advance trac take over during hard turns ive submitted it to.

turn them both off on your ST and go rip around some S turns ( preferably a LARGE empty parking lot) and youll see what i mean.

During my first test drive with the ST, I made sure to turn off the nannies and tried to kick the rear out around a corner...I was not disappointed.

I discovered one by accident today. When the vehicle is off, if you pull the turn signal stalk toward you, there is a loud beep and the headlights and display screens all come on. They stay on until you pull the stalk again to turn them off! Interesting and I guess for when you need a lot of light! It sort of overrides the auto-headlamp delay after turning the engine off.

I'm going to try that one. Thanks

Has anyone noticed there is a lock "button" on the outside door handle? All of the handles have it, and it's on the "left" side of the handle as you're looking at it, and there is a symbol, that looks a bit like a lock, although I don't think it does.

Also, has anyone noticed there is a spray head just under the front and rear facing cameras, so when you wash the windshield, it also sprays on the cameras... I thought that was pretty cool.

That button will lock the doors when the key is in your pocket. Just touch it. Works great!

I love that door handle lock and unlock which is on the inside of the handle and have used it since I had my 2013 Lincoln MKZ!

You don't actually have to release your parking brake. You can just go (in drive or reverse) and it will automatically release it for you. I forgot the term but in manual but it's like auto protect thingy.

I still manually do mines though as a habit but good to know you have a safety net if you forget!

Again this was a feature I first became aware on my 2013 Lincoln MKZ. You have to be wearing your seatbelt for this auto brake release to work. The 2017 Fusion Hybrid SE I drive also has this so I think it must be standard with all electronic parking brakes.

The rear doors also have the the touch door handle lock button. I didn't notice that for some time. Rear door unlocking by opening with the key in pocket unlocks all doors. Easy to verify as the side mirrors both close upon locking and open upon unlocking.

Should do the same thing when you open the door while stopped.

This one is not a “New” thing exclusive to the Explorer, if you hold the “OK” button down on the steering wheel and while holding it down start the vehicle the dash display goes into a service mode... sorry I can’t think of the actual mode name but it’s kinda cool, test the chimes, dash lights and allows you to see some information. Also my my Father drove my ride yesterday and told me he was not impressed with the cooling seat, I asked why not? His reply was.... “I thought that if the cooling seat was turned onto High that it would absorb the odor of a fart”.... My father is an odd one

How long do you have to hold the button? Nothing happens on mine when I try this, it just starts up in the usual manner.
