I had a Valentine until I moved to Virginia back in 1998 when I had to sell it because they are illegal there. I haven't had one since then and I've been back in Mass for 18 years now. I haven't used one because I thought they were useless against the technology police use now. I've been reading up on them and it seems there is a really divided community over them. My question is geared more to those who have them. Do you find it actually protects you? I use Waze but it's only good for the highway. I stick to around 80-85 on the highway but on back roads i always catch myself driving 10-15 MPH over the limit which is a guaranteed ticket around here! Is it worth spending the money on one? If I were to get one I would go with the Uniden R8. Got a lot of good reviews and has a long range.

I have a Uniden R7 on a Blendmount in my ST and it has saved me a handful of times... Usually is one of the local LEOs camping out blasting KBand. However, these STs have more than enough performance available to get into some $$$ if you are driving carelessly. Situational awareness is never a bad thing and the detectors can definitely add to that.

Escort is probably still the king but I really love my R7. My wife has the Escort Max360C. I prefer the colorful Uniden display and the arrows are a lot more visible. I don't think you can go wrong with the newer R8.

I don't drive like a moron. It's just easy to be doing 50-55 in a 40 MPH zone without realizing it. Especially on the back roads around here. Some places suddenly drop to 30 MPH without warning! And with my luck, that's where I'll get nabbed!

I use R7s in both of our vehicles and used R3s before that. Great detectors and you're able to customize and fine tune it quite a bit. Go to vortexradar.com, he does some really in depth reviews/tips for configuration.

Your set up looks clean! That one seems to be king everywhere I've gone for reviews but I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger. It's a lot of money for something that "might" work. The local boys here all use Instant-On and last I knew they had two Lidar units so it may not work for me.I was actually just checking out the Escort MAXcam 360c for the built in camera. If I am going to spend that kind of money I think it may be a good choice. Either that or I just have to be more aware of my speed. Spend the money on the front splitter and side skirts. Hard decision! Thanks for all the input y'all!

Anyone know about the K40 Platinum 1000? It's what they use in high end cars like BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari, etc. They have a gaurantee that if you get a ticket within the first year they will pay for it.

Is wifi connectivity the only difference between the MAX 360 and the MAX 360c?

I have used Valentine 1 for 25 years. The current technology is the best I have ever used, which has also included a couple of other detectors.

If im remembering correctly, the Max 360 and the 360c are the same hardware under the hood. The 360c has wifi and a mag mount

That's the only difference I could tell from the descriptions on the website. I think I am going to go with the MAXcam 360c. It's a little more money but I don't have to buy a seperate mount and all. One unit, one power cord and one mount.

I ended up getting the MAXcam 360c and got my first save today. I was in a rush so I was doing about 50-55 in a 40 MPH zone. It first aleted me at about 1/2-3/4 of a mile. I instinctively checked my speed and then it started alerting steadily. Sure enough, I went another 1/4 of a mile and there was a cop coming the opposite way. The range is very impressive. I also use Waze on the highway and it's picked up laser at quite a distance. Having the dashcam built in makes for a nice compact set up. Overall I would say it's a good investment.

How do you like it? Been on the fence about ordering one due to the price and the fact the wife will hate the alerts.

I like it! I ordered the Blendmount and MirrorTap kit for a clean install. Once I get my vehicle back and get it all installed I’ll post some pics. It has really great range. It does give false alerts but they all do. It has an option to mark the location so it knows it’s a false signal. I’m happy with it.

Does anyone have a pic of the connector where a radar detector is hard wired to. behind the rear view mirror?

Don’t do a mirror tap…get the Smart Cord and wore that in so you have easy access to the mute button. The control tucks perfectly in next to the start button.
