Hello everyone, I am currently looking to buy a 2021 ford explorer ST that has 40k miles on it flat. I wanted to know about the reliability of the vehicle with that amount of miles as I haven’t seen to many posts about anyone having significantly more than that. Thank you very much for your inputs!

Have seen plenty of people with that mileage who have done it very reliably. Just make sure all the service records look good and there’s nothing abnormal about it. Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Welcome! Make sure you get a pre-purchase inspection to weed out any abnormalities not visible to the eye.
I bought a 2020 at 61k miles last year and now have it to 70k with no problems. Smooth and tight as a drum!

I would test drive it quite a bit. Don't just go around the block. Also keep it overnight and see how it sounds first thing in the morning. Anything that seems not quite right, get it fixed before signing anything, otherwise you could regret the purchase. If all is well then I would say get it and enjoy.

I would recommend getting an extended warranty. These are not known for reliability or durability. I bought one a year and a half ago when I decided to keep it for another 3 years.

Plenty of us have been trouble free with these cars, including me. Even so, your right, an ESP is always good in case you get one with problems.

I've owned 2 Fords, 2 Lincolns, a Mercury and Infiniti. None of them had axles, fuel pump, transmission, differential, transfer case, catalytic converter, cameras, etc. replaced before 50K miles. I'm not alone. There are plenty of us out there. The only major thing that hasn't failed at this point for me is the engine. I've even had a rear window defroster and window switch chrome peel off. Ford needs to get its act together. This may be my last Ford after 40 plus years.
