    Steeda Subframe bushings

I don't disagree. On a street driven vehicle, personally, I wouldn't bother with this upgrade and it wouldn't be worth my time (or the cost). That doesn't mean someone else wouldn't find the improvement worthwhile. On a vehicle that I'm going to track, I wouldn't stop at inserts if there is a...

    Steeda Subframe bushings

So that's a common fallacy - it happens when people mix up which bushings are in question. Specifically rear subframe bushings vs. bushings for the powertrain/drivetrain. Many OEMs actually use different (and solid) bushings for performance variants. One that would come to mind is your...

    Steeda Subframe bushings

The labor's intensive, no doubt. A hydraulic press is preferable to burning out the OE rubber just to be able to push it out. I'm not aware of anyone making poly (or solid) bushings.

    Steeda Subframe bushings

While these are probably much easier to install, wouldn't solid rear subframe bushings result in the best performance?

BIG brakes for our Explorers, this time affordable

+1. I have a 7000TLX. I got it because it has the capacity to lift 1/2 ton pickups and 1/2 ton based full sized SUVs in case I needed it. I did prefer the TLX (extended length) frames though because I think there's very few cars that need the standard length. As for the ABS bleeding...

BIG brakes for our Explorers, this time affordable

I have a very similar garage/tool setup. That looks like an standard length Quickjack? 5000? Also, is that an Ares vacuum bleeder? These days I will put a Motive pressure bleeder on the master cylinder reservoir and a vacuum bleeder on the caliper... makes bleeding brakes go super quick when...

BIG brakes for our Explorers, this time affordable

+1 That's my point. I don't think there's really any spirited driving on the street that will overwhelm a robust factory brake system with the most aggressive factory pads, compared to a road racing environment. There are no "back roads" that can really hold a candle to the amount of stress a...

Lowering Springs: Lethal, Eibach, Steeda, H&R PROS and CONS

I don't dispute that springs that can fit a ST can also fit a PIU. I don't think there's a fundamental difference in the design of the suspensions. But, why are there so many different variants? What's the difference between these front springs...

BIG brakes for our Explorers, this time affordable

Perhaps, but the driver can alter their driving style to promote brake pad endurance on the track with minimal degradation to your overall pace. For example, if you apply more braking pressure quicker and shorten your brake zones (and duration of time generating heat by applying brakes), it...

Lowering Springs: Lethal, Eibach, Steeda, H&R PROS and CONS

I don't think that would be the case because I would imagine emergency vehicles tend to have trim pieces that increase ground clearance because they are expected to traverse more obstacles and bottom out their suspension more often than standard passenger vehicles.

Lowering Springs: Lethal, Eibach, Steeda, H&R PROS and CONS

I don't think that's the case. https://www.ford.com/suvs/explorer/2023/models/explorer-st/ Minimum ground clearance listed for 2023 Explorer ST is 7.9 inches. https://www.ford.com/police-vehicles/hybrid-utility/ Ground clearance listed for 3.0 EcoBoost is 7.2 inches.

Sounds like it's a pad issue more so than a brake caliper issue then. Were you able to get brake pad fade with the brake pads used in the PIU?

Lowering Springs: Lethal, Eibach, Steeda, H&R PROS and CONS

Are the PIU vehicles equipped with lowering springs? How does that compare to these other options?

    Spring Compressor

I've used these many times with a decent amount of success: https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-macpherson-strut-and-coil-spring-compressor.html

Is the ST with ST Street Pack brakes not sufficient?

    PIU struts/shocks

Is it possible that the PIU shocks are pretty good and inexpensive that Bilstein doesn't see much of a market opportunity for their product? Do we know who is the OE supplier for the PIU shocks?

2024 Ford Explorer Refresh Fully Revealed

I my opinion, it's worth holding off on a 2024 order and making it a 2025 order. I would think the entire infotainment system as well as the front dash might undergo an enhancement. The way I see it... it's very hard to retrofit those types of upgrades later on. If Ford updates the...

2024 Ford Explorer Refresh Fully Revealed

That's a bummer. I guess we'll wait and see what the competition introduces as well then. I'm only interested in a refresh - the current dash just looks too outdated.

    ST vs. The Competition

Seems like the output increase is mostly attributed to the move from regular to premium gas?
