    New Pirelli tire

Mine came in - perfect timing after a week of snow followed by rain and 50° weather. Tentatively scheduled to have them installed later in January.

    Flex pipes rattling

They are hose clamps - just snug them down. The three seem okay on mine, but in the end, nothing will completely stop the chicken wire from rattling a bit except removal of it altogether.

    New IC from STEEDA

Use whatever you want - lots out there on Google, but Steeda’s video is probably the best one done so far. The Whipple instructions are good just as well It’s not a re-branded Whipple. You don’t have to use stands, but taking off just the passenger side wheel does help.

    New IC from STEEDA

Was definitely pleasantly surprised with it, but looking forward to GH’s tweaks for comparison. Saw no need to spend a ton of money on this since the X4 was almost a freebie after the discount I received on the intercooler.

    New Pirelli tire

They are so new that reviews will take a while (although there may be a couple on TireRack already). Don’t see how you can go wrong with this tire, especially if you can avoid the snow-tire hassle.

    Considering ZFG Racing Tune

Just about to load up Matt’s tune today. Worked out perfect since I bought the intercooler/X4 combo from Steeda, and even the canned 93 tune made quite the difference. Adding a custom tune now is a no-brainer, especially since I wanted to check out some of the transmission tweaks.

    New IC from STEEDA

Looking forward to it, especially since I understand Matt does nice work with the transmission. I have zero interest in racing, so trying to wring out every tenth of a second wasn’t on my radar. Easy to keep using the X4 as well. Otherwise, I’ve really had no gripes with the canned tune, but was...

    New IC from STEEDA

The AO tune from Gearhead has had lots of good reviews. Decided to pick it up from them even though the SCT canned 93 tune isn’t too shabby. They are also fine with towing which is something many tuners don’t recommend (and didn’t want to hassle with re-flashes every time I hooked up my boat).

    New Pirelli tire

They also look similar to the now-discontinued Eagle Assurance Tripletred, and Hankook Kinergy 4S2. None of them, including the Michelin’s are available in the 21” size for the ST. As much as I wanted to wait until next fall for new tires, looking forward to giving these new ones a go.

    New IC from STEEDA

The colder plugs finally rolled in courtesy of Levittown Ford, but will probably wait until spring to make the swap. With the intercooler and canned 93 Octane tune, still a fantastic jump in performance.

    New Pirelli tire

Ended up having my local Sam’s order them for me since they are $40 cheaper each than Tire Rack until the end of January. Even though my OE Scorpions are at 5/32” at 30,000 miles and haven’t been terrible through the last couple winters, figured now was as good a time as any for some new tread...

    Ford Performance Tune

For about $200 less, anyone wanting a safe - and mild - tune could simply pick up an SCT X4 and plug in their 93 version. You can always add a custom tune later, and you don’t have the ridiculous auto parking brake, and you can shut off the stop/start (saves another $100), and it’s not...

    New IC from STEEDA

Knocked this out yesterday as my last project for ‘22. Was also a perfect time to install the black Timberline emblems.

    New Pirelli tire

Well, according to everything Pirelli has put out, they are the best of both worlds and are still going to grip well in warmer weather. I‘ll be in the same boat since I have the Steeda rear bar and just ordered the springs, so I like to push it hard. Looking forward to your thoughts on them!

    New Pirelli tire

Those look very promising, especially since Pirelli states they are also suited for warmer weather use. I’ll need new tires next year - probably - and will be willing to give these a shot even though I have no gripes about the OE Scorpion’s (even in the snow). Pricey for sure, though! A couple...

    Flex pipes rattling

I put three clamps on each of my flex sections to keep the chicken-wire from rattling. Has worked fine and cost next to nothing. If they ever get worse, the flex pipes with the mesh are another inexpensive option.

Late 2022 with four bolt subframe?

Has been discussed for months already. Ford used the base model rear subframe on many ST’s, with lots of details in a long thread on here: https://www.explorerst.org/threads/rear-end-damage.2602/ The other two bolts mount vertically behind the pinion on either side.

    New IC from STEEDA

Went with the X4 package deal - through a Steeda vendor with a discount, it was $1200. A no-brainer. Despite the critics of the SCT canned tunes, it really has a great kick and should be even better when I get around to installing the intercooler. Plus, a custom tune from any number of sources...

    New IC from STEEDA

Mine arrived the other day - very nice, built like a tank. Definitely not a Whipple, but the instructions from them will be perfect for the install, however. On another note, the package from Steeda with an SCT tuner is a great deal, especially with some of the vendor discounts.

    Ford Performance Tune

You are already at 45K - the warranty is useless. It’s only 3/36 and that is from the original in-service date - which has been mentioned many times. Paying retail price plus an install charge is really just throwing money away.
