RESOLVED: Clicking: P to D (video)

Thanks! Will bring it up. They found the noise in the front on mine. They're swapping that axel and A subframe (?) at a min. They're also replacing whatever parts are related to the bolt fracture issues as well (I got lambasted on here by another owner for now being techno smart on it so I'll...

RESOLVED: Clicking: P to D (video)

they ordered a bunch of parts but I can’t recite it. It’s (to the chagrin of some forum members) being on some level attributes to the rear axle bolt issue and/or the hard shifting issue. I’ll know more when the parts are replaced in a week or so. They said it’s a 2 day tear down job minimum and...

    Rolling backward holding brake ?

I only posted because I was seeking to see if others were seeing the same issues. They're trying their hardest to figure it out and feel there's some relationship with the rear issue. They're saying they're changing parts out in the rear to be sure. I'll find out more when I can. Resume comment...

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

Yeah, they're saying it's related to this recall somehow, but they're replacing the front left as part of the two part problem. I have the hard shift, and the issue related to P to R. But they're also changing out some of the parts related to the rear (diff?) case and bolts to be sure. I'll find...

    Rolling backward holding brake ?

Really? I'm not "bullshitting" anyone. I came here as an owner, and advocate of the ST. I do have an issue, and yeah - I did post in another forum. When they said "this" about the fracture, I posted here. Sorry to ruffle your feathers. I'm having two issues ... 1) the P to R ... and 2) a "hard...

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

Stock. Parts list to long to recall. Will circle back when I have the full list in print but I remember front driver side A frame an axle and diff case I think. JL

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

So it turns out I have this issue on a 2020 at 38k miles. Those who think 2020’s are immune think again.

    Rolling backward holding brake ?

Update - there was a tech in the shop who had previously dealt with the axle bolt recall. He said he knew how to replicate the issue and had dealt with something similar to this. He did in fact replicate the issue. It's related in a few ways to the hard shifting recall as well. Though the car...

    Rolling backward holding brake ?

Haven’t tried to diagnose but it doesn’t happen every time which is alarming. No predictable pattern. Ford can’t figure it out themselves. Still at dealer.

    Rolling backward holding brake ?

Thanks. It’s in the shop. I flew fighters for 20 years. Trust me. My foot is down hard on that brake lol.

    Rolling backward holding brake ?

Garaged. Cold start. Foot on brake. Car in park. Start car. Release electronic parking brake. Select reverse while still holding brake. Car rolls backward. Don’t see a scenario where a car rolls - ever - while holding a brake pedal. That’s NTSB level stuff. No?

    Rolling backward holding brake ?

So, I go from P to R and despite holding the brake down firmly, the car rolls backward a few feet then catches itself. It’s really unnerving. Anyone?

Update. Service replicated the issue. Recognized and trying to figure it out. Any / all info appreciated. It’s being designated a drivetrain problem covered under the large power train warranty. Source tbd.

RESOLVED: Clicking: P to D (video)

Absolutely. Please share the name and contact info of the dealer and service manager you work with so they can all share notes. Mine said he wants to figure it out bc there are so many ST’s on the road in COS. He also said there was a similar weird issue with super duty trucks he recalls and is...

RESOLVED: Clicking: P to D (video)

Hey there my car is at the dealer and they can’t find any ford service bulletins about it other than harsh engagement from 6 to 7th gear. He says there are up to 8 axle splines and is asking which splines are the culprit. Also could you pass along the name and number of the dealer you went to...
