Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

Locking things up is weak. Theres already too much of that cr@p going on in this world. If you are too sensitive to real men talking about real issues, then scour elsewhere.

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

Well, it's a valid point that just because FORD permitted a one year warranty extension that its seriousness means squat in the real world. That fact aside, polling remains valid here because this is an Explorer ST specific forum so it doesn't get any more real than that. People love to be fed...

    Considering my 1st Tune

haha You bring up the notion that FORD is trying to "save a buck" when in reality neither you nor anyone else here knows why they went to one bolt. They will NOT deny your warranty to save a buck. The single bolt diff is the perfect example. Regarding non piggyback tunes, to say you "might as...

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

Seeing no responses to my posts about the malarky on LeftBook's "Explorer ST Owners" page, I ask people to remember that to be uninformed on a topic is the same as having no working knowledge on that topic. So if some people make the wild claim that even stock ST's are breaking rear bolts "left...

    ST vs. The Competition

Glad to read you comment. Yes, the ST is a ton of fun, and the fact that nothing else even comes close to it for price/performance is the icing on the cake.

Keep your wits about you people. Stay informed and read in between the lines. There is no other way ...

You're allowing perpetrators of falsehoods to pass you by to the point of radical indifference just keep your eye on the bouncing ball.

    Considering my 1st Tune

No dealer can officially accept and/or condone an unapproved 3rd party tune. It's not something that's within their purview. The only tune a Ford dealer can put in is one that has been authorized by FORD.

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

Okay, I'm not on LeftistBook but I can view the "Explorer ST Owners" page. Seems some guy with a tuned ST just broke a rear diff bolt (no brace) and the post has the usual hundred comments. Then someone said stock ST's have broken their bolts "left and right", but two posts later says he's...

Don't do it! You will regret it forever! jk I would have done it already were it not for the 1/3 rear bolt issue. And I'm not going to add a brace and then maybe have the dealer service dept ask me on a routine visit "Heh, what's that thing under the car?"

    Result from dealer service center.

Never heard that one before about the brakes. I guess as long as the car is braking okay and the mechanic said it was fine, not much else you can do. On a side note, I had a rattle coming from the back of my ST. Dealer said it was a vibrating fuel line across the top of the fuel tank and...

What annoying brake noise are you hearing? Auto Start-Stop is intermittent unless you turn it off or you go into Sport Mode. You do not have to pay a diagnosis fee if you're reporting a first time problem with the vehicle.

    Hiding in the dark

To really hide out you need to black out those red brake calipers!

Back in the day, I was stopped for tinted windows and ticketed. No speeding, no drinking, nothing. Just tinted windows. I was told if I removed the tint by the court date that the fine would be dropped. So I removed it, it was a real PITA. From that day forward I vowed never to tint any of my...

    ST vs. The Competition

Alex on Autos bought a Durango SRT and gave it a "D" for fuel economy. He was getting 14.9 mpg combined.

    ST vs. The Competition

I came to the same conclusion when shopping for a high performance SUV. Nothing comes close to the ST for price/performance except for the Audi SQ5, but the Audi's lines are too "curvy" for me. The ST's lines are way more aggressive.(y)

Thanks, that was a ton of info. Where I live, the law reads: "The windshield and front side windows cannot block more than 30% of the light." So for me the 33-35% would be illegal.

    ST vs. The Competition

Well, no one's posted here in a while so I thought C&D's recent comparison test would be of interest ... MDX Type-S is a bit slower, but costs $17k - $14k more than an ST: Price (base/as tested) $67,895/$73,745 0-60 mph: 5.4 sec 1/4 Mile: 14.0 sec @ 101 mph Durango SRT is a good bit faster...
