Newbie winter tire & wheel combination question

I have 255/65/18 with Michelin X-Ice xi2 which are only 1.3% off from the stock 21s. They have been great and have already saved me from one near collision during Winter storm Elliott last month.

Squeaking noise coming from lowering springs

would you expect any different? Correct me if I'm wrong but they didn't make changes before the 2nd run. They were hoping it was a first run anomaly. it's a shame that this happened. I think the coils on the steeda have a smaller coil diameter than stock. Their initial RSB would rub stock...

Best tune for 2020 Ford Explorer ST

The device needs credits for a new VIN#. But the tunes are for a specific car... who would want a custom tune made for your car even if you could do it with the proper credits? It's not a canned tune. Hate to tell you, but like others selling their HP Tuners device, you are going to get soaked.

    Check your plugs

Didn't measure the old ones. Spec says they should be 0.028-0.030 in. All the new Motorcraft SP 594 measured in that range

    Check your plugs

Just changed mine today. These are after 60k miles. Left side with a little more burnt appearance but nothing too bad. Stock was Motorcraft SP 578. Now replacement listed as SP 594. Both iridium. The 594 were all pre-gaped.

    New from MD

If you are looking at an ST as your user name suggests, it's worth it to get a 23. A good deal of 21-22s have inferior rear subframes. To me, getting a 23 with the correct one like the 2020's is worth $1000 to me. Then again, you may be kicking yourself if 24 brings in the midcycle refresh...

Looking for advice/opinions - Extended Warranty & Maintenance Plan

YES. These are FORD warranty plans... the exact same ones your dealer is trying to sell you, although at marked up prices.

    Pulled the Trigger

My left headlight had some moisture issues as well. A close look showed the sealant was sloppy inner side top seam. Added more, no longer a problem.

High Mileage Explorer STs check in!

59k on my 2020. Pretty happy with it to date.

Drone issues with the following setup …

I'd check for an exhaust leak. My Gibson seemed to progressively get more drone but I found the stock flex section had failed. Since you don't have that problem, make sure all the exhaust connections are tight and haven't worked their way loose.

    Rear passenger door disassemble

This is the one I have. No problems with it. AIRTHEREAL MA5000 Commercial Ozone Generator, 5000mg/h O3 Machine Home Air Ionizers Deodorizer for Rooms, Smoke, Cars and Pets, Blue https://a.co/d/gWADeix Also, read up on ozone use. It can be hazardous.

    Rear passenger door disassemble

You sure vomit got in there? I cant see how it could possibly get past the inner door panel and then past the plastic cover to get inside the actual metal door. If its scant amounts of liquid you are worried about, leave the door panel off and run an ozone machine for about 30 min. As a...

Anyone had their interior door panels off.. or intending to for any reason? Wobbly windows..

Peruse the service manual for the correct procedure: https://www.foexplorer.com/ford_explorer_glass_frames_and_mechanisms-1307.html I'd also recommend buying these door cover clips if you plan on removing the interior cover for any reason. One is surely to break...

One year old 22 ST car battery on its way out

If your Garmin has Park Mode, you definitely need to watch what the set minimum car battery voltage is on it--especially in the winter time when batteries discharge faster. I've not seen anyone record 24/7 with their dash cam. Usually park mode needs to be impact and motion activated...

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

Boss240, if they listed part numbers with your work order, can you post the part# for the upgraded bolt? Someone else also reported that the fix now included an upgraded bolt

    For you suspension experts

I had H&R / Bilstein with my X1. Initially had H&R / Stock struts and shocks before Bilstein came out with replacements. I did not like the ride on stock struts/shocks. Went with Steeda's for my Explorer. Most have said the ride with just lowering springs is fine. That said, when and if...

    CV Boots

On some explorers they tightened the small clamp on the outer boot too tight and the boot tears. Ford Boss has a youtube video if you want to search.
