I preordered this as well, from reading the directions this retains the factory cold intake tube….so even though the unit is bigger it can still only draw in the same amount of air because of the size of the stock tube. I wonder actually how different the CFM is just placing the the AEM panel...

My guess this would fall under powertrain which is 5/60k warranty (since this is the mount point for a powertrain component). We can complain all we want, but until the people that have had the failures report it to the NHTSA nothing will happen. I wonder if we all could report it to them...

Not sure why you would purchase your own, just let it break if it does. There has been only a handful of failures, Im sure there are close to 200k explorers out there with the 3 bolt. Also the handful that were broken were all fixed under warranty even though they were tuned.

If Ford made the change, thats pretty much it. Until a TSB or Recall is issued. The dealer will likely not swap it out either, the cost is pretty substantial. Again if they swap for 1 person they have to swap for all.

You are getting what the vehicle is advertised as, So this is not poor mileage....In all Honestly 18/19MPG in the city is great considering the size of the SUV and the 400HP under the hood. My friend only gets 20mpg city in his 2021 Toyota Highlander which is a comparable size SUV.

I can honestly say the only way you will get it replaced ....is if you fork the money or at some point down the road they issue a recall or TSB. It has been confirmed that Ford knowingly put this part in place, if they replace yours ....they know they have to replace everyone else's.

I would give another cable a try if you can... I had a cable that did not work in mine but it would work in my wife's Toyota. I had my iPhone box with the original cable in it still gave that a try a worked perfect. Just a thought before taking it in. Also maybe forget the car in the CarPlay...

If this is truly an installed incorrect part, ford would be responsible since your vehicle does match the VIN reference. They would have no way of issuing a recall. They would have to recall every explorer to visually inspect.
