Current Average time to replace rear Diff under warranty?

After threatening to call the plant manager in Chicago, I finally got an ETA on the rear end. Looks like August 28th.

Current Average time to replace rear Diff under warranty?

Half tempted to call the plant manager at the Chicago plant(Linkedin is your friend) and find out whats up. It's only been 2 weeks, but with no ETA and knowing that they probably have thousands of these sitting line side, it's frustrating. My dealer hasn't escalated anything. They put in...

    ST Availability... WTH?

Probably waiting on rear differentials. They're on national backorder with not ETA. Several people have been waiting months for them to come in so we can get our vehicles back from the dealer.

Current Average time to replace rear Diff under warranty?

Ford is covering half of my repair. My ST has 69k on it(first rear end failed at 33k). All told it's almost a $3k repair with half of it being out of pocket. But still no ETA.

High Mileage Explorer STs check in!

69k now.. And the 2nd diff left the chat. Same failure as the first one. The seal is just a symptom, the bearings disintegrated which took out the seal. I doubt I'll have this car long enough to get to 70k. Might talk the dealer into buying it before they get the parts(which are on...

    Your ST's pet name??

The Exploder.. 10k it got an engine, 33k 1st rear end, and 69k(currently) in the shop for the 2nd rear end...

Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Current Average time to replace rear Diff under warranty?

I hear that! I've been looking as well. Going to test drive a F150 with the 5.0 and a Chevy Silverado with the 3.0 Duramax tonight. I doubt the tune is the issue. I don't really beat on mine and it still failed. I can count the number of full boost launches on 1 hand.

Current Average time to replace rear Diff under warranty?

Exact same boat. Except I'm being the customer from hell. And I'm daily driving a 1996 F250 with 322k miles on it, that doesn't owe me a damn thing. I wish they would just buy the damn thing back for what I owe on it(which is about trade in value) and let me go somewhere else to buy...

    ST Availability... WTH?

They haven't figured out how to get the 20-23 model years to be reliable, you think they'll get it right in 24?!

Current Average time to replace rear Diff under warranty?

Any word yet? Make sure you contact Ford Corporate and hound them for an ESP. You'll probably be like me, and have the same failure in about 30k. My first went at 33k, and the second went a little further at a 36k interval. Every 4th oil change I'll be doing a rear end it seems.

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

I would consider myself having to replace a differential every 4th oil change, more than a minor issue. I would also say that the Sheriff having a dozen failures in their fleet, more than a minor issue. There were 4 Explorers at my small dealership waiting on rear ends. That seems a bit more...

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

I'm wondering if the shearing of the bolts, and the bearing failures are interconnected. The 2 bolt rear ends might have enough resistance during the seizing to not shear, but with half the strength, the 1 bolts shear when the rear end fails/seizes. So the root cause may be the...

    Bad Torque Converter

The parts coverage on these things is absolutely ridiculous. Mine is sitting at the dealer with a 2nd failed rear end, with no ETA. I got 2 days-1yr as an estimate. The thing that pisses me off, is that they're pushing this crap out at the rate of 100's per day, but people that have already...

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

The rear differential assemblies are having major issues. I had the entire rear end replaced under warranty at 32k miles. And now again for the same bearing failure at 69k miles, but this time on my dime. I was also told by a county Sheriff that they've had several failures in the field, some...

Current Average time to replace rear Diff under warranty?

This whole situation is making me think that in my case, it's time to move on from the ST. My dealer is going to cover the 2nd diff under a parts warranty, but it's looking like it's an every 30-40k mile "wear part". The 1st diff was put in last March. I have an appointment tomorrow...

Current Average time to replace rear Diff under warranty?

And my rear diff just left the chat an hour ago.. This is the 2nd time. The first one went at 30k and now this one lasted 40k. Houston, I think we have a problem....

    Rough Idle When A/C On

I suppose this would pose an issue if you have a tune though.

    Replacement tires for the 21" Pirelli Scorpion's - YOKO'S?

I'm pleased with the Pirelli WeatherActives. Dry and wet performance are good. Haven't tried them in snow yet, but also have a set of Blizzak's for winter. I wanted a very good wet tire, and they deliver.
