Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

To be honest, I don't know what's going on regarding how FORD decides which vehicles get the recall and which one's don't. The one thing I do know for sure though, is that with only a reported 235 bolt shears out of several hundred thousand, is that they are as rare as hens teeth.

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

If that's the case and you didn't get a recall notice, then I have to consider recall notices are going out in line with individual VIN numbers.

QUESTION: Who is using/has used a 3 bolt at the drag strip?

There's got to be people drag racing with 3 bolts. The more people that respond in the affirmative, the more quickly we can begin to dispel the "3 bolt is to weak" claim. Thanks.

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

If people with 4 bolts within that date range aren't getting a recall notice, then FORD has to be using specific VIN's within those date ranges and the theory would be invalid.

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

So if yours was built at the Chicago Assembly/Chicago SHO center it's in the recall. Otherwise, it's not.

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

Is yours a 2020 model? If so, it's only showing recalls on that date for those 2020 models built at the Chicago Assembly/ Chicago SHO center. This is all getting very confusing ...

    ST vs. The Competition

Happy to oblige! Yes, the ST is amazing for what it offers compared to it's competition. And another thing, I personally don't even like the styling of some of the other one's all that much. The ST's looks are more aggressive/masculine.

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

It's just that it doesn't correlate with what we've seen so far. If there were that many people with breaks at just one single dealership, then this forum would be overwhelmed with owners from across the country reporting the same. We're just not seeing those kind of repercussions.

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

Why would it cover the 4 bolts? And the date ranges that FORD gave wouldn't seem to support that theory.

Thanks! I also saw this new one the other day, darn good walk through:

Poll: How many have experienced a "rear axle bolt fracture" (POLL CLOSED 6-4-22)

So either FORD lied about their bolt shear data (doubtful) or the dealer was exaggerating/misinformed (more likely.) I say that because as of April 2022, FORD recorded 235 warranty claims for rear bolt shears out of 252,936 units involved in the recall. That equals a bolt shear rate of .092%...

Said the owners when they de-tuned them after getting back from the drag strip.

    ST vs. The Competition

Thanks guys.:) Yes, the ST is definitely the performance/price leader. The only one I think that came close was the Audi SQ5, 4 tenths quicker but costs over $7k more and its interior dimensions much smaller by comparison (SQ5 passenger volume + cargo volume 129 cu ft, ST Passenger passenger...

The CTSV is a performance vehicle for ITS class. The ST is a performance vehicle for ITS class. I'd say that whether I loved the ST or not.

    Transmission/Shifting Stall !!!!!!!

Some years ago I had a new Mustang GT. With less than a few thousand miles on it seemed unusually sluggish for 420 hp, so I drove it until the "Service" light came on. Brought it to the dealer and they said it was one of the overhead cam sensors. Wasn't even broke, was just unplugged. They...
