Trailer Brake Controller Plug Location, and Redarc Install

^ Very nice. I have to say though, that I'm so retentive, that I would probably just buy a new/used trim piece so that when I drill and destroy it, I still have my pristine original one stored in the garage. (Hooray resale value)

3rd row headrest won’t stay up

I'm sorry to say that I can't be helpful - I have no knowledge of the inner-workings for the seat. This is, however, a gag I cannot pass up, so....

    Whipple Intercooler Install Fun

I just did my whipple this weekend. I drilled out the rivets, and Amazon overnighted a rivet nut gun and stainless rivet nuts/bolts. Unfortunately, I didnt have small enough ones, but I drilled out the holes and used M6 hex bolts. (requires wide washers) I have a feeling I will need to remove...

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

This week I added a Mishimoto oil catch can, and finally installed my 2nd hand Whipple intercooler. I also seapped the front blue oval with black while it was out. A few things on the Whipple: 1. Rivets on the bottom of the radiator shroud are STUPID. I drilled out the rivet...

Hi level install cost for performance exhaust systems, intercooler, air intakes

I can't really speak to 1 and 2. Shop time is the big cost, many charge $120-$150/hr. Intercooler is front bumper removal, which is several hours and a shop rate is generally high. (Setting the unit in place and connecting the hoses is dirt-simple) Installing a catback is pretty straight forward...

360 Camera disabled. Why? What’s the fix?

I think the other part is likely a sly cover for how dissatisfied all of us are with the 10" vertical screen. Generally all of us tolerate how utterly ridiculous it looks, but none of us can deal with the fact that some morons put the rear and 360 video outputs side-by-side, making each of the...

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

That is all mostly true, and I'm already aware. Honestly, the heatsoak and easing breathing was reason enough for me to do the upgrades. (Adding a tune in the future and unleashing tons of performance gives future benefits) Can the OEM parts run at its current HP levels and above? Of course -...

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

The aFe strut tower brace came in from Lethal, it looks nice and subtle. I have to say - if you run the stock brace, you might as well remove it. The flex is laughable - my wife broke out in laughter.

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

NICE. I have to put on my Whipple and am waiting for my AFE setup too. Im sticking with the stock airbox, but doing hot and cold. How is it, feeling a difference? Did you do tune as well? (Im going stock, curious of the change)

360 Camera disabled. Why? What’s the fix?

From what I've heard, people's side view mirrors dont have cameras in them. It's easy to check. Are they missing? You need to get new mirrors with cameras and do a lot of work. Theyre not missing and you have all the cameras - is a module missing or it just needs turned on in software? Maybe.

    Recall Rear Bolt Fracture?

First picture, the subframe we are talking about is the black piece. (Also, this article outlines the problem) https://www.drivingline.com/articles/the-differential-dilemma-plaguing-ford-s-explorer-st-3-bolt-vs-4-bolt/

    Recall Rear Bolt Fracture?

You are looking in the wrong place. Look at your first image, at the top is a black subframe (You see the bottom half of the diff). If you look, you'll see a big circle with a bolt on the left, then the subframe is "whole" in the circular impression to the right. (The bushing is like 2" round)

    Loud Screeching Noise/Medal Dragging Sound

Very likely, or at least heat shield bent up against rotor or rock stuck under a brake pad.
  14. C

    Recall Rear Bolt Fracture?

As mentioned above - that is no-can-do. What is missing? - A HOLE in the subframe where the bushing sleeve goes - a tapered bushing sleeve - the bushing itself For you to cut both sides of the hole and weld on both sides, you have to drop the crossmember and remove everything, which is all...

    "Clack" Sound In Reverse

The torque makes this weird. Seems like a tolerance issue. Also, this dude walkin around in flip flops in a shop is INSANE

    No Oil From Factory?

The lack of oil light is what gets me on "It came from the factory that way". This engine is setup for high pressure oil (why the pan gasket can be such a problem) - I can't imagine that there is no warning for low/no pressure. I would definitely push them to forensically checking for signs...

    Steering wheel leather peeling

And here I was irked because Ford didn't notch the under-leather padding to keep the seams flat.... this is way worse.

    No Oil From Factory?

Yea, I've heard the "Bam! Instantly I have no oil" comment before, I'd love to know where it goes. Out the turbos into charge pipes or passed the piston rings into the combustion chamber? Shouldve seen a lot of blue smoke or stalled. Out of the turbo exhaust side into the exhaust? I would expect...

    Brembo brakes

True. The fuel comes in when you want to go faster downhill, which the performance mode makes me do. (Downhill that slow? Not on my rollercoaster!) . It's also nice to save the wear on the vehicle. (Holding back that hard means added strain)

    Brembo brakes

Well, the shifting is "More aggressive", meaning you'll always be in a lower gear than "Normal" mode would be - which means engine braking will be a factor. Hell, in performance mode coasting downhill, I'm constantly bumping the gear up by one or two, just to keep revs low and save fuel.
