What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Two days ago swapped out my Bench 2nd row for Captains 2nd row.

VIN needed for 2nd row bench seat car

Unfortunate that those aren't the ST rear bench with the white stitching, cause that's a hell of a deal. Would just look odd in the back with all the other stitching being white.

VIN needed for 2nd row bench seat car

Unbroken in your search for headrests did you ever come across another "bench" equipped ST in a yard anywhere? I'm beginning to discover how rare bench equipped STs are.

    P&L exhaust for Explorer ST

It sounds like a nice idea but there are very few shops capable of 3" mandrel bends here where I live as far as I know. Then sourcing all the stainless elbows, straight pipe runs and actually getting the alignment correct... why bother? All that trouble certainly not worth the potential money...

    P&L exhaust for Explorer ST

I have one on order. But will be Spring before I get it installed.

How-To: Swap Bench 2nd row to Captains Chairs with Console

The process of moving from captains to bench will be similar to the above, but you'll just need to consider the carpet situation (Bench-specific carpet part number TBD). I suspect going to the bench will be slightly more difficult mainly due to lacking that seatbelt monitor wire. I havent yet...

How-To: Swap Bench 2nd row to Captains Chairs with Console

    15) The test. Power up the car. You should no longer be getting "seatbelt monitor" warning on the dash. Test seats for heat as well to make sure it's all working.

How-To: Swap Bench 2nd row to Captains Chairs with Console

    14) Now that center console is installed, you can install the drivers side and passengers side 2nd row captains chairs. Yes they of course fit the existing holes! Ford isnt gonna make the attachment points different as that would be a pain in the ass on the assembly line. On reinstall, be...

How-To: Swap Bench 2nd row to Captains Chairs with Console

    13) Now the next problem. The middle seat seatbelt monitor wire. You have to address this or you will get the "Rear Belt Monitor Fault, Service Required" fault on each startup. We eliminated the seat, now what to do with the existing wire? Two options. A) find a 763 Kohm resistor and make a...

How-To: Swap Bench 2nd row to Captains Chairs with Console

    11) Take note of what you see here, and you'll realize quickly there are a few issues that need to be addressed. The bench carpet is cut differently than the Captains chairs carpet to accommodate the plastic center console frame. Also, since we are removing the middle seat and replacing it...

How-To: Swap Bench 2nd row to Captains Chairs with Console

    10) You now have a completely empty 2nd row area. This is a great opportunity to vacuum up the whole area and collect the random change. My car is a Canadian export and I found a Canadian quarter. Cha ching.

How-To: Swap Bench 2nd row to Captains Chairs with Console

    6) The middle seat also has covers protecting the bolt access area left and right side front and 2 rear square covers. Remove all as above. 7) Remove 2 front 13mm bolts, and 2 rear 15mm bolts. The service manual says to throw these away lol. I'm not sure if that is a mistake or not but they...

How-To: Swap Bench 2nd row to Captains Chairs with Console

    4) Find a way to cover your doors and door frames. I used blankets taped to them. This is to make sure you don't scratch shit when removing the seats through the doors as they can be hard to maneuver. 5) Remove both seats. You'll now have just the middle seat remaining (if bench)

How-To: Swap Bench 2nd row to Captains Chairs with Console

    3) Unplug electrical connectors below seats. You'll see two per seat. Drivers side is Brown and White. Passengers side is Brown and Black. Each plug has a clip you press down and pull back on the connector. They were somewhat difficult to remove and I had to wiggle them aggressively to free...

How-To: Swap Bench 2nd row to Captains Chairs with Console

    2) Unbolt 2 front (13mm) and 2 rear (13mm) for the drivers side and passengers side 2nd row seats.

How-To: Swap Bench 2nd row to Captains Chairs with Console

I was successful in removing the 2nd row Bench seats and swapping to 2nd row Captains chairs and center console. This should put to bed the whole argument around whether or not it's "possible". A bunch of people said it wasnt and Ford has told a bunch of people its not possible. That's...

Anyone install cp-e Austenite 2.75” Cat Back Exhaust?

Over on the Facebook group a few owners experienced quality issues like welds already rusting. Be careful.

Swapping 2nd row from captains to bench

It's surprising that there is only one other post asking about this. Has anyone had the whole assembly apart to 100% prove it doesn't work? I'd probably swap my bench for captains if it was possible.
