Getting irritated with some of the driver assist functions

Nah keep those, they keep drunks out of ditches occasionally.

Getting irritated with some of the driver assist functions

Amen. Turn that shit off always. Even the parking sensors now. I found it was too distracting having the car scream at me for being too close to something when I was trying to park. Car doesn’t understand I was driving 19 years before it was built lol

    Let's talk display settings

I think that’s just the first and last thing the screen displays when it powers on or off. Does the same thing for me too. Just a default image. Maybe because one might go Explore mountains, and the car is an Explorer? My guess anyway.

    Winter Car Wash

Occasionally I’ll use the handheld brush at the coin-op, but not until I’ve scoured it thoroughly with the pressurewasher to clean anything out of it, and then I’ll usually squeeze my own soap (Chemical Guys) into the bristles, work it in, and then use as normal, adding more soap when needed...

    What’s that smell?

Yeah I’ve never owned, let alone raced, a turbo car before and I would never have expected it to smell like burning wood mixed with garbage. I’ve smelled a lot of burning automotive substances but never anything like that before. Glad to know it’s apparently normal for the breed.

    What’s that smell?

Interesting. Never heard of that before. I’ll keep that in mind. The good news is it only lasts a few minutes so whatever it is isn’t serious but I’d sure like to solve it. Thanks for the idea

    What’s that smell?

I’ve been trying to decide if it’s coming from the back, or maybe from the front and it’s getting sucked up through the vents. There is definitely a dead-air zone behind the car, clearly illustrated by the amount of dirt that collects on the tailgate.

    What’s that smell?

Winter tires yes. I honestly can’t say how long I’ve been noticing it...I think it’s been longer than that though. I noticed it on the highway after a couple stomps while I was still moving though. It doesn’t smell like burning rubber.

    What’s that smell?

Not to rehash an old thread, but: Does anyone continue to have the smell even after the car is well and truly broken in? I’m at around 16000km, aka 10000 miles, and I still get a whiff of what basically smells of a mix of burning wood, paper, and garbage after a decent run on the highway...

    1000 mile oil change.

Having done the oil change myself already, I can tell you that it isn't exactly difficult, but it IS slightly more awkward just from the positioning of everything. The only real awkward stuff underneath is that there is a small plate that you have to remove to access the oil pan drain plug, and...

Anyone else getting crazy good mpg?

Average an indicated 20-22 MPG per tank depending on what my driving is like that week. The bulk of my driving nowadays is highway commuting and a large portion of it is at low traffic hours so I can cruise and get good mileage. Now, what the ACTUAL mpg is I don't know since I haven't gone as...

    Vertical Distortions In The Windshield

Don’t suppose you’re wearing polarized sunglasses at the time and that’s interfering with your view through a polarized windshield? Mind you, you said you were inside looking out so that’s probably not the answer.

    Capless Fuel Lock

Correct. I bought it on a gamble that Ford hadn’t changed the filler neck between 2019 and 2020, because really why would they - but apparently they did. I gambled, I lost.

    Capless Fuel Lock

Doesn’t fit. I bought it locally from a dealer. Don’t fit at all. Not even slightly.

    Hands free lift gate

I think you can still open it manually but it’s a heavy bitch.

Trying to do oil change at 1500mi mark

Agreed that doing it in an empty parking lot is a bad idea...and agreed with your reasons...but your mind went to hilarious places and I love it

    Winter Car Wash

I usually just suck it up and suffer the cold while I use the coin-operated washes. I'm a fat guy, though, so I'm kind of always wearing a winter coat all year around. The good news is they're sheltered on three sides so you're usually out of the wind, if nothing else. Also, they're not as...

    Backup sensor malfunction

One of my front sensors does this occasionally too, but nothing consistent.

    Speedometer/tire size/Forscan

Okay so I’m not sure if this really belongs under wheels & tires technically but I’ll start it here, and moderators can move it elsewhere as they see fit. I just had winter tires and rims installed today - and they are 255/50/20 tires which is apparently -2.3% in size compared to the...

Probably a dumb question about winter tires but......
