    Settings defaulting

Hi everyone; Finally took delivery of my ST after a 6-month factory order wait. So far happy with it except for one issue, which is that the settings for Reverse Brake Assist and Assisted Braking for the pre-collision system keep defaulting back on every startup - in other words, I turn them...

    Your ST's pet name??

“Del”. Why, you may ask? Short for “Delayed”. I ordered him January 15th and only got him this past Monday. Stupid covid.

What did your Ford Explorer ST replace?

Only built in Chicago that I know of. But you’ll probably be alright now. I was told 8-12 weeks which would have landed right in the middle of April, but Covid added an 8-week delay so I’m GUESSING I might see it this month.

What did your Ford Explorer ST replace?

I was told the same, but that was before Covid hit. When did you order?

What did your Ford Explorer ST replace?

Nope. March 5th, sales guy tells me it’s “going into the production line”. Then Covid happened; now as of June 10th it was still in the production line. Don’t know much since then.

    check your tire pressures

I’ve read it’s to help prevent flat spots in the tires when they sit on the lots for a while.

Aluminum Gas & Brake Pedals - Anything Available?

I guess every car has to have a failing or two somewhere.

Aluminum Gas & Brake Pedals - Anything Available?

This. You might think $60,000 would buy at least a slightly better set of seats.

Trying something new with an SUV

Gorgeous work. I'll be interested to see what you have in store for an SUV.

    “Clicking” in Front End?

Cars these days are so loaded with electronics, solenoids, valves opening and closing, motors whining, computerized everything, that odd noises are to be expected from them from time to time. Even as far back as 2009, I noticed that my old car's electronic throttle would whine noticeably and...

    Oil and Filter Cartridge Change

I think it said Nm in the video. “Good and snug” would suffice I’m sure.

    Oil and Filter Cartridge Change

For anyone who, like me, likes to see the process and see what you’re going to be looking at before you actually attempt it yourself, found this on YT a couple days ago. Not mine.

Is everyone ok with the giant tablet and terrible bezel?

Wasn't impressed by it on the test drives I took, both in terms of its look and also in terms of its usage of the available screen space, etc., so I unchecked that box when I ordered.

What did your Ford Explorer ST replace?

Love those; that was going to be a definite contender if I decided to go away from the SUV/crossover market and stay with a sedan.

Anyone breaking in their engine for the first 1,000 miles?

My general break-in procedure is to avoid overly beating on the car (but still giving it the beans a few times here and there to help things bed in) for the first 1-2,000km, keeping the speeds varied, and changing the oil at 2-2500km, 5000km, and then again at 8-10,000km and going on a regular...

Did you purchase an extended warranty?

Yes, got factory extended although it's been so long since I made the deal (still waiting on the car) that I can't remember which one I picked. I should probably look that up LOL. But long story short, always say yes to the extended warranty. Paid double for itself on the old car when I had to...
