Facts on adoption of electric vehicles

If you think of a car as a transportation tool, there is nothing wrong with an EV. If you are a urban or suburban driver who commutes a short distance back and forth to work, it's an ideal machine assuming you have a small battery pack and can plug it in at home or work. Of course, you'd have...

Anyone use AFE Scorcher GT or Blue power module?

You can do a site search for "piggyback" systems. JB4, AFE, etc. Here is one of my posts on the subject that is relevent. Read the entire thread if you wish.

nostrum HPFP & injectors stage 1 or 2?

I don't know what you read, but if you're not using ethanol, there is absolutely no HP benefit to a fueling upgrade on stock turbos. But if you want to lighten your wallet, go for it.

nostrum HPFP & injectors stage 1 or 2?

If you're running 94 octane gasoline, why upgrade at all? You would only need an upgrade if you were planning on using more than a 50:50 mixture of ethanol.

    Water to air intercooler

It's not a "pissing competition". Any criticism you feel you're experiencing isn't "inaccurate". If you want to do something that raises IAT, adds weight, lowers efficiency, incorporates more failure points and introduces parasitic losses (pumping water isn't free) you're free to do so. You...

    Water to air intercooler

You're not getting the reply you want because it's pointless to use an air/water setup.

    Water to air intercooler

An air/water intercooler is not superior to an air intercooler and you won't find them in road racing. You will find them mostly where there are packaging constraints or roots-style superchargers where because of the packaging (supercharger is part of manifold), the compactness of the air/water...

    Water to air intercooler

Thermodynamics don't favor water. Water just allows you to have a higher heat absorption number. Don't forget, once that water gets to a number above ambient, it also takes a lot longer to cool it. If you're using some sort of method to cool the liquid below ambient (ice, etc) it might work...

    Water to air intercooler

If you're going to go that route, the pump would have to be sized appropriately based on BTUs added and removed. Ideally it would be variable speed with thermal control. There are no scenarios in an ST where an air/water intercooler makes sense.

    Water to air intercooler

80% efficiency water radiator to 80% efficiency intercooler = 64% efficiency. The only good thing about a water core is that it has more mass (h20) which means it takes longer to heat soak. However efficiency goes down and once it gets hot it takes a lot to cool that fluid back down. Usually...

Sanity check after HPFP and injector install….

Yep. You're going to be overly rich. It's possible that the ecu will trim the fuel after driving for awhile, but you're just asking for other issues.

    Throttle Lag

These vehicles are incredibly complex, and there are going to be situations where the vehicle just doesn't respond the way one might expect. If you're not aware, the ST has a steering wheel angle sensor. It uses info from this along with speed sensor, yaw sensors, torque sensors, acceleration...

    New 2020 Explorer

For all who are interested, the ST does not "learn your driving style". What it does do is "learn" tolerances in the engagement and disengagement of the clutches between gears as those tolerances change over time.

    Explorer ST/Timberline Part Swap

IIRC, Platinum ST did this and posted about having some type of problem with axle fitment- before he ditched the whole thing and sold his truck. Any idea about whether that is a problem?

    Transmission Throttle Blip

Despite the difficult of diagnosing others' interpretations of "blip", "studder", and "dead pedal", here is my take: @BrooseDaMoose is not far off about turbo lag. The fact is that the ST uses vacuum wastegates. This allows the ECU to open the gates at anytime it deems necessary. So, if you...

"Space GhoST"- single turbo ST build

I did contribute a lot to a member's single turbo build over the past few months. I occasionally come back and visit. Thanks for the good wishes.

    St Gearing

I doubt trading the 3.58 for say a 3.73 is going to make any appreciable gains. It's not just about the final drive ratio, it's all about the ratios in each gear of the transmission. As such, the ST has a very good ratio set- see this post here. FIrst gear could be a bit higher along with...

    2021 ST BOV

If you read all the posts, you should have read this one. Where the "relieve valve" as you put it is explained. The only programming involved is to cut the injectors and not close the throttle during the shift.
