    Exhaust smell

That code is thrown when there is about a 15% difference between the A/FR from the left to right bank as measured by the O2 sensors. Since you just had the cat done (I assume driver's side?) it's most likely to do with that (possibly a damaged O2 sensor, or they put in new ones?) Unfortunately...

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

You make a good point, but you're missing something. The differential doesn't move up and down in an exact plane, it rotates under torque. As such, the bolt will hit the furthest part of the subframe (your numbers- 3.625" away) well before it will hit the subframe 0.625" away. That's where...

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Well, we're both right. You do have a way with words! Let me point out that the longer bolt will likely be hitting the subframe before the original bushing does much deflecting- therein lies the problem.

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

I applaud anyone who goes to the trouble to attempt a DIY fix. In this case, I don't believe your approach is going to be effective. Because the bolt is only supported on the subframe side by a 1/8" gap (with some rubber "snugged in") and there is a probable 4" distance between the threaded...

    Forscan Auto Start/Stop turn off?

I'm not saying you might not have hit on a magic combination, but in the last 3 years, and several threads on the subject, no one has figured out a way to truly disable the ASS via Forscan over the long term. You can certainly buy the wire-in ASS eliminator which works. Some tuners can also...

    Ford Performance Tune

Most of us have heard over and over that this platform loves ethanol. This isn't surprising on any turbocharged engine, but to be honest, I've been a bit skeptical about some of the info, assuming it was a bit overblown and due to knock resistance and extra cooling. But given that there is...

    Super Forged Big Brakes

From the info presented in the thread, it appeared to me that the kit came with new lines. So that's why I was curious as to why you'd need a die. Now, if it's suggested to chase the threads I get it, but when a kit comes with lines, in my mind that includes the threaded ends- thus my...

    Super Forged Big Brakes

Why does one need a threading die? Does this imply the new hoses have ends that are blanks?

Is everyone ok with the giant tablet and terrible bezel?

You realize Ford doesn't own Range Rover any more?

    Hate my 3" thermal exhaust

Really informative and useful. I'm kinda interested in what you're drinking...or smoking!

    Hate my 3" thermal exhaust

Waah, I posted something ridiculous and stupid and got called on it. (For about the 3rd time). I'll show you, I'll just keep digging deeper 'cuz I work on a tractor dammit.

    Hate my 3" thermal exhaust

I'm not sure the cats are as restrictive as some people think- we've seen over 50lbs/min airflow through stock exhaust with stock cats. At that point, you probably at the limit of the stock turbos. I've always recommended changing cats when you change the turbos.

    Hate my 3" thermal exhaust

That's the big question, isn't it? But let's first lay down some parameters. We're talking about a tuned ST- with stock turbos, etc. It's not unlikely that ON A DYNO a larger exhaust might produce a bit more peak horsepower. But as I've pointed out (here), in a real-world track environment...

For those thinking about a "performance" exhaust system

I wasn't really commenting on the gains from downpipes as much as just commenting in general on using a dyno to judge gains from larger diameter exhausts.

For those thinking about a "performance" exhaust system

At one time, I was going to put up a post about dynos. They are a great tool for comparison, but in the real world, for something like an exhaust, they don't reflect actual results on the track. When you're doing a dyno pull, it's in a set gear at the load value of the dyno. For tuning...

    Hate my 3" thermal exhaust

Like I said, you obviously didn't read my exhaust thread post where I made very specific reference as to how the exhaust should look post turbine. Does "diffuser" ring a bell? I'm done with trying to educate you. As another member DM'd me, I think we're looking at FireStarter 2.0, or is him?

    Hate my 3" thermal exhaust

Honestly dude, and STi exhaust gains have what to do with an ST? You're killing yourself, again.

    Hate my 3" thermal exhaust

And people have accused me of being too verbose! I was happy to read your reply until you used the word "sucking". For anyone still watching this post. There is no such quantity as vacuum. There is only absence of pressure. There is no such quantity as cold- just absence of heat. And when...

    Hate my 3" thermal exhaust

Let me ask you, did you just come from a site like NASIOC? I notice you have an STi. I had three. That site had 14 yr old wannabes to 35 yr olds. This site is a little different. Here you are going to find 35-70 yr olds based on market of the ST. Because of that, a lot of people here are...

    Hate my 3" thermal exhaust

Well, that wouldn't "literally" be the conversation. And I didn't tell you to STFU. Since @bosephbarking only just joined and I don't know him, I doubt I've had time to become his hero, so don't bring me into this. Have you heard of the psychological term "projection"? I don't want to get...
