ZFG: I guess I'm a fanboy now too

without a doubt the Whipple IC. Anyone who says otherwise is a f&*%#ng idiot. I could go into detail here, but short reason is the stock IC heat soaks fast and simply can't cool fast enough. Also, the stock exhaust isn't that bad, aside from the rattling from the flex sections. My order of...

    Engine Failure @ 2k miles - Resolved

Sorry to hear about this. Doesn't make your situation any better but this happens to >$100k cars as well. I don't doubt that Ford will take care of this and make it right.

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Installed Fenfab catted downpipes today and did my e50 baseline pull today. No pics, sorry. If you are in the Cincinnati area and need the DPs installed check out Flowtek Customs in West Chester. Super nice people that did a great job and charged less than I was expecting. Plus, they had some...

    Air Box Mods?

Ideal Gas Law FTW!!!! This guy has another thread about knock when accelerating after stopping. Hot inlet air temps will tend to cause knock and then your engine pulls timing.

High knock reading on take off

I could venture a guess after seeing your air filters.

    Just installed a Whipple intercooler.

I’m thinking of trying to remove the slats without removing the bumper. So if you just bend in the middle they pop out?

    Just installed a Whipple intercooler.

I actually strapped a camera on my grill and recorded the shutter slats while driving. They didn’t close at all up to 85mph. I think they only close in cold weather to help warm the car up. The 85mph was only for a second, so not sure if they close at hwy speeds and long durations. Even so I...

    How-To: Ethanol Sensor Installation

might be a better idea. Definitely not a gauge you need to stare at and monitor. The harness is barely long enough to get to the cubby, so you would need to splice in some wires.

    How-To: Ethanol Sensor Installation

Yep. Just finished an unexpected 1500mi trip and tested it a few times by putting 1.5 to 2 gal of e85 in the tank, worked great! I may take it off the lid of the cubby and just mount it to the base of the cubby.

Remember what Tommy Boy said about guarantees on the box! All they sold you was a guaranteed piece of shit!

    How-To: Ethanol Sensor Installation

I really didn't feel like regularly measuring the ethanol content at the pump. I know the e50 tune from ZFG can handle e40 to e60, which is easy to calculate for a single tank. My biggest concern was spiraling to one end of the spectrum due to inconsistent ethanol contents at various pumps...

    Ellie the Explorer

The first round of SPD down pipes were prone to cracking, but SPD was on top of the issue ASAP, replaced affected DPs, and revised the design. Don't worry about the ones you just ordered. Your dealership may not install them as it involves removing emission items (catalytic converters). I...

ZFG: I guess I'm a fanboy now too

it is GPS based, which does rely on Line-of-Sight (LOS), so yes, it's best to mount it where it won't be obstructed by solid objects. I think most people mount it on the back side of the center display.

ZFG: I guess I'm a fanboy now too

Google it. They are not specific to the ST and MANY retailers carry it. You can order direct from Draggy's website or through a distributor. Also check out the P-Gear 610S.

Ford Performance Parts for 2020 Explorer ST

the biggest limit is the intercooler. A tune can yield some serious HP gains, but repeatability and reliability start to come into play due to the factory IC. It'll heat soak fast, then the ECU will start to pull timing to prevent knock. I know a lot of people are holding out for a factory...
