    BLACK LUG NUT UPGRADE

From the Ford Performance description, they are one-piece with a PVD coating…? Thought about these briefly, especially since the hex is the same, but never bothered. Steeda has them for around $150 which isn’t too unreasonable.

Yeah, that blurb is from August. No significant updates since.

New Gibson axle-back kit in the works

Interesting. No change in sound here other than the typical cold-start loudness that fades away after a few minutes. Highly pleased with everything, but I’ll check that passenger side hanger if anything changes.

    Anyone installed the MRT H-pipe?

Zero drone with the H-pipe, and really none at all with it and the Gibson “mufflers”. It was just too damn loud that way as I mentioned. With the OE resonator and Gibson kit, it sounds like it should have come that way from Ford. I did like the H-pipe, of course, but the bump in sound was...

New Gibson axle-back kit in the works

I'll definitely look at it again when I have the other kit on the ground, but from memory, mine lined up the same way. May not matter with the bend, but I did also notice the hanger on the passenger side being closer to the upper bushing bracket. Probably just as safe to stay with the 1.5" cut...

    Anyone installed the MRT H-pipe?

It just gets welded in at the back where the cuts were. You maintain all the factory tubing from just behind the resonator. That’s a few feet more. Here’s a pic of the cuts I made for the Gibson kit, with the H-pipe still in place:

FND Factory flex pipes and exhaust - NE OH, or SE MI.

Thanks for letting me know. Might have found them already, but if that falls through, I’ll get in touch. Nothing agreed yet on price, so that could be a deciding factor.

New Gibson axle-back kit in the works

Funny you mention that since I noticed something similar, but maybe only half inch or so. The muffler on that side was a lot harder to slide on, but I figured it was just tolerance differences of the factory piping. Having the adjustable tips made it easy to line it up, but assuming I acquire...

    Anyone installed the MRT H-pipe?

I’ve owned and driven V-8 Mustangs going back 30+ years and currently have a highly modified ‘03 Cobra. It’s totally different with toys that aren’t driven often, which benefit from a performance exhaust, vs. a daily driver that is loud for no reason. A nice rumble is fine, but obnoxious is...

    Anyone installed the MRT H-pipe?

I just removed an MRT H-pipe once I swapped in a Gibson axle-back. Even with that kit (which has "mufflers") it was stupid loud, so the stock resonator went back in and the sound is perfect. I can't imagine using their H-pipe AND axle-back - that would have been even worse. That being said, the...

FND Factory flex pipes and exhaust - NE OH, or SE MI.

Just went to another local Cleveland shop that has been around for a while. Probably could have waited and had one other place take care of it - the right way - but I was there and wanted it knocked out. Unfortunately, I made the assumption they'd leave the forward band clamps in place rather...

New Gibson axle-back kit in the works

No real humming noticed on my end, other than maybe up close to 90MPH, and that was with the stereo turned off. I'd say it has a pleasant rumble much like what Ford had piped through the speakers (mine was turned off within the first month of ownership), only it comes from behind you rather than...

FND Factory flex pipes and exhaust - NE OH, or SE MI.

Total bummer for sure. In any case, most likely just scored a like-new exhaust in SE MI, so hopefully I'll have this rectified soon enough.

    Ford Performance Tune

No, but that is simply how they are advertised. Even if the FP tune comes in with less power than the popular ones out there now, plenty of us probably won't care. That's especially true for those of us that couldn't care less about drag racing.

FND Factory flex pipes and exhaust - NE OH, or SE MI.

I should have done the grinding myself had I known. As they told me, they only cut and weld. Oh well, lesson learned, but kinda’ pisses me off about MRT tacking on those clamps!

New Gibson axle-back kit in the works

Updating this again since I had my factory resonator welded back in this afternoon. What a difference - sounds absolutely amazing. With the H-pipe, it was just way too loud - almost straight-pipe loud, but it's perfect now. The rumble is noticeable, but nowhere near close to obnoxious. No drone...

    Ford Performance Tune

How are you going to measure one tune versus another other than the power output (I.e., “dyno sheets”)? If it’s safe for a daily driver, being “watered down” shouldn’t be any issue. Mine has an 8-year, 125,000 mile warranty. I can wait.
