    If anyone is interested, I took a flyer and bought the following on ebay - and it fits (approx 3.5" x 2"). Note that part 388454S noted by @Stone17 in post #15 in this thread and myself in post #4 is way too small. Thanks again for the helping hands...

    Checked again, and yes those are scratches at the bottom of the oval (not fabric/string, etc.). Still could be bouncing around on the splash guard (which I could remove, I suppose) that is running partially underneath (and is helping with keeping things cleaner). I like the previous owner /...
