    Ford Performance Tune

No as poorly as the actual FP tune, especially considering the price and the absolute shit-show it is to have it flashed at dealerships.

Eastern Ky dealerships that are mod friendly?

Overhead and Labor rates at dealerships are going to be higher than anywhere else. If you can't DIY then try to find a smaller shop to do it. That $980 is probably 4-5 hours budgeted for them. Took me less than 3 and that is with a run to Home Depot.

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

nope, as long as you have 1/4" and 3/8" extensions and swivels it is easy. Remove the bracket that holds the heater hoses and move those out of the way to get better access to the back two plugs. I think getting the coil packs off the threaded studs was the hardest part.

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Thanks @Cajun Heat, I’ve been looking at the 7000 for a while now. @tjmath13 working on it, back at alignment shop now to get the rear camber within spec

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Yesterday - installed Eibach springs and oil change while it was up. Today - alignment....only problem is my go-to guy's alignment machine broke this morning so had to go to Discount Tire. They got the front/rear toe and front camber within OEM spec but despite me showing them where the rear...

    Steeda Subframe bushings

I second this. If I were to do the install again I would remove the rear wheels though. I did the passenger side with the wheel on, it is doable but a little cramped. I did the driver side with wheel off, MUCH easier.

Must Do Upgrades w/out Transmission Stress

ZFG arguably does the best transmission tuning of anyone. I believe some, if not all, of the canned tunes don't even modify transmission shifting. Adam is a wizard at it. It is expensive and it does take longer to get the tunes than if you bought a "one size fits all" canned tune, but it is...

Must Do Upgrades w/out Transmission Stress

You can throw all the bolt-ons you can on this and it won't gain power. The IC is the only thing that will give a performance boost because the larger IC won't heat soak like the stock unit. You will want a tune to get all the bang from your buck. I would first recommend changing your trans...

RESOLVED: Clicking: P to D (video)

does anyone know the axle nut size? Ford P/N is LB5Z3B477A. These are single use nuts and should be replaced if removed. EDIT: Axle nut size is 31mm for all of you DIY'ers #axlenut

Memorial Day Sales start NOW here at Lethal Performance!!

I work with a guy that has a macro in his Excel sheets that kills copy/paste because of the numerous errors by the users. At first I hated it, but now I'm 100% on board with it.

Memorial Day Sales start NOW here at Lethal Performance!!

I don't think @JakeLethal realizes there isn't a Whipple "Supercharger" option for the ST. Whipple "Intercooler" is more like it.

    How-To: Ethanol Sensor Installation

you are right, I missed where he said he was using the Fuel-It sensor. No need to go through the firewall, just tap into the FB on the driver side. I am using an Innovate MTX-D gauge, so I had to run wires through the firewall.

    Ethanol/Exhaust Question

I change my oil every 5k miles using Mobil Synthetic 5w-30. Don't trust the "oil life indicator" on your info cluster. I check the oil level frequently and monitor oil consumption based on how much oil drains out. I am seeing appx 1/2 qt of consumption now, which is completely acceptable IMO...

    Ethanol/Exhaust Question

Ethanol is actually GOOD for FI or high compression engines. The days of elastomers not being compatible with ethanol are gone, so no need to worry about that. You will see a slight drop in fuel economy with ethanol as it is less energy dense, so the ECU commands the system to flow more...

    How-To: Ethanol Sensor Installation

I went through the pass-through just behind and below the fuse box on the driver side....and it was a bitch. That was the only difficult part of the install. I believe there is a pass through on the passenger side that has much better access, near the glovebox area I think. Just get an old...

Explorer ST 1/4 Mile Time Slips

108mph is "normal" for the 91-93 octane ZFG tunes (and others). If you were able to put some e85 in your tank then you would see 110-112 mph-ish traps. Remember, aerodynamics are not friendly to the ST! It takes a lot of power to move the speedo at those speeds. e50 tune on stock fuel...
