20" Tire Replacement

I found a lot by searching but not quite what I'm looking. I'm looking for some good tires to replace the factory tires that came on my ST. Currently has the 255/55R20 Michelin Primacy tires. I'd like to go with a 275/55 and something decent in the snow. I also want a good speed rating. I think AT tires would look funny on this especiaally since I'm lowering it. What are some suggestions y'all have?

I highly recommend the Falken Azenis FK460 A/S tire if you are willing to stay with the original size. For the price, I don't think you will find a better tire. I think 275/55 would be too tall of a tire. I had thought about going with a 275/50, but could not find any examples of how it would look.

I’ve read in some other posts that the 275/55 are just a wider tire. The originals are 255/55. I tried the Tire Calculator and you’re right. How can I find a size that will give me a wider tire but still keep the same height? Looked at a couple other calculators but couldn’t find one that would show me what I need! I’ll keep searching. There’s gotta be a wider tire that’s at least close to my stock tires. I’m sure someone has already figured this out. Thanks for the response!

the stock 255/55 is a 31" tall tire. If you want wider but close to the same diameter, try a 275/50, they are a 30.8" tall tire, close enough that you can get away with it and you won't notice the minor difference. Or you could go with a 285/50, but they are 31.3" tall. BTW the 275/55 you mentioned is a 31.9" tire, you can use it, but you will need to recalibrate the speedometer for a difference that big.

I think I may stick with the tires that are on it (Michelin Primacy AS) and just go with the 275/50. They got good reviews and look decent.

Just an FYI, a 275/55 is the same size ford has put on F150's with factory 20's since 2006. And GM also uses that size on their 1500 trucks with 20's, dodge or ram uses a 275/60 on their 1500's

I got a price to have the factory rims powder coated and it’s not significantly cheaper than buying new! It’s $700 for a set off for up to 19”, $25/rim for every inch bigger so that’s $800. Then they said they will need to be acid washed to remove the old coating and that’s another $400! So it’s gonna cost $1200 and the wait time is 2-3 weeks. I haven’t priced rims in a long time but they can’t be a whole lot more! I’d also be able to go up to the 21” and change the offset so they look better. I just have to hunt some down that I like.

Before I dropped 1200 to have the factory 20's stripped and powder coated, I would look into a set of 21" take offs, they are already black.

I’m 99% that’s what I want to do. I briefly looked at some rims and they are like $275-$375 a rim. I’ll use the same TPS so I won’t have to buy new ones. I like the black Street Pack rims so if I can find some take offs that would be great! I just can’t imagine there are many sets out there for sale.

I switched to the Michelin's Pilot Sport All Season 4s and haven't looked back. Yes, a little pricey, and not sure how well they do on the snow, but my car is lowered, and the ride quality plus grip have been great. Worth researching.

Those are one of the tires I checked out. I doubt I’m gonna go with a bigger rim! Prices double unless I go with 22" rims. Seems the 21" are an odd size.

I found these tires at Tire Rack for a great price and they got high reviews. Toyo Proxes ST III They are only .2" taller than the stock tire but 1.2" wider. Only being $184.47 makes me a little nervous though! What do y'all think of these?

They would be OK but I think you would need a set of winter tires looking at the ratings.

Yikes, I missed that! Well my second choixe was the YOKOHAMA PARADA SPEC-X. More expensive but still reasonable.

I've seen the Lionhart tires posted on here and I'm wondering if they are a decent tire. I found a set of the LH-TEN XL tires at Walmart for $622! Some reviews said they split on the sidewall though. You can't always judge by price but these are really inexpensive tires!

So looking on their website, looks like you are talking about a 285/50r20. I wouldn't go wider than a 275 on our 20" wheel. For an awesome mileage tire, I would say the Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra in a 275/50. Would love to see those Toyo's though in the 275/50 on the ST.

I never would have thought I would have such a hard time finding tires! There’s really no decent all-season ties that I can find! They’re all either sport tires that suck in the snow or they’re aggressive all-terrain tires! Nothing in the middle! I’m going to go to a local shop that does nothing but rims and tires. Maybe he can help me find some.
