Hi all,

After purchasing this vehicle a few years ago, everything was great; I did not have any issues.... until one day...

  • The entertainment unit began to freeze and randomly reboot on its own. (Eventually, after numerous attempts, Ford was able to update the software.)
  • Shortly after that, I started to receive the following notifications on the dashboard:
    • Blind spot system fault,
    • Memory Recall Not Permitted While Driving
    • Cross-traffic system fault
    • When I put it in reverse, it says, "Reverse automatic brake system fault."
    • When I am driving, the seat begins to move automatically. It even pushed me forward while driving, squishing me between the seat and the steering wheel, nearly causing a car accident. I had to pull over and get out.
    • Throughout random drives, the heating/cooling system intermittently turns off and on, and I cannot open the driver's side or front passenger-side window. (This is especially dangerous during this time of the year because it rains a lot where I am from, and when I am driving, the vehicle begins to fog up immensely, and I often cannot see out of the windows)
    • Recently, the back rear door has decided to stop opening. Not from manually pressing the button or the button next to the steering wheel or the key fob.
  • The strange part about the above-noted issues is that they would happen sometimes initially. I would go days without any issues, and then all of a sudden, the car would go nuts.
  • They have not gone away as of one month ago. They continue to have the above-noted items.
  • I am taking it to Ford tomorrow for the 4th time now and telling them I do not want this vehicle back until these problems are fixed. At this point, it's a safety hazard.
Anyway, I am Looking forward to hearing if anyone has experienced this or if anyone has a good feeling about the root cause. I will assume this is an electrical/wiring issue until I hear otherwise.

Thanks!

Not sure if you still have the original battery but you should have it checked. These sorts of issues have been reported when the battery is not able maintain the proper voltage.
Good luck with the dealer.

The dealer got back to me pretty quickly. It looks like it was a wiring issue under the driver's seat. It was faulty and affecting many other electrical modules. They are replacing it tomorrow so we will see if that fixes it. I am not holding my breath! :)

Would appreciate more details on specifically what was wrong with the wiring and what caused it if they give you more information.

I always sound like a grumpy old man whenever I say this but here it goes again - More electronic's, YAY!!! Sarcasm of course.. I HATE all of the electronics in vehicles today and the fact that they tie things together such as what you are dealing with.. A F@#KING wiring issue under a damn seat shouldn't be allowed to cause 10 other things to act up. It's piss poor designing to me.
