So I am seeing 2 different BOVs models from Turbosmart (disregarding VTA and recirc options) - VR2 and VR13.

Can anyone provide any info as to the difference or any compatibility issue? I ask because I ordered one and was sent the VR13. But I see on FGB video and see that people have (also) installed the VR2. I have been trying to get an answer from Turbosmart but once the Australian contact (really nice guy) sent me to their US Support, crickets... I wouldn't want to install the VR13 I was sent only to find an issue... Thanks!

They are nearly identical, the main difference is the orientation of the solenoid on the cap.

Well with the vehicles that don’t have a BOV from the factory 09/21 and newer, the charge pipe from FenFabrication with BOV works.

Sounds great! just got mine yesterday and get it installed Monday!

I have to ask....why would anyone install a BOV on a vehicle that doesn't use one?

The other question to ask since the BOV is missing from the '21s (and according to @UNBROKEN is disabled in the ECU) is did the turbo change? I only mention it since the Borg Warner EFR series has a surge valve built into the compressor housing. You wouldn't use a BOV with those since it's already integrated.

Being disabled in the computer is per Adam when we were talking about it a while back.

The FenFab pipe he added uses vacuum referenced BOV’s…it’ll PSHH all day long.
Respectfully, I think you're missing the point. If the ecu uses a strategy of injector cut-out while holding open the throttle, there won't be a "vacuum" signal since the throttle isn't closed.

People have already installed them…they work as designed. See post 64 here.

Thanks for directing me there, I didn't bother to listen. I hear BOV activity (at least in neutral)! Since Ford doesn't have the BOV in the 2021, that would beg the question of how are they dealing with compressor surge? But, it's easy to check. I'm sure ZFG has the wherewithal to track the injector pulse width and throttle opening values, so he could track through a "on-off" run whether Ford was using the strategy I outlined, or just decided compressor surge wasn't an issue.

Is there any other purpose to install a BOV on a '21 (January build) other than to hear the pshh pshh?
My ST is modded similar to many on here so I want to be sure especially reading the above comment with compressor surge.

So this might be a dumb question, however if the ECU is cutting the injectors and holding open the throttle I assumed any left over pressure was going down stream if you will. But if the FebFab charge pipe w/ BOV works then isn't that an indication of the pressure still being present in the charge pipe? i.e. w/o the BOV to alleviate it could surge back to the compressor?

It is just an upgrade over the stock diverter valve (assuming you have one), as in it is just a better part. Seals better, acts in more a reliable and predictable manner. So while it doesn't not provide a performance increase in terms of hp/tq, it does sort of improve driving performance. If you want the upgrade without the pshh, get the recirc model. If you want the pshh, get the dual port.
