Hi all!

I just picked up my ST and I noticed a couple of odd things with my USB ports… I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

The USB-A port (the larger one) has no issues with CarPlay, but instead of charging my phone it drains the battery and my phone gets pretty hot.

The USB-C port charges my phone perfectly fine, but CarPlay doesn’t work on it.

Anyone else heard of this before??

I have a 21 and don't have those issues. Have you tried multiple different cables? Also try a hard reboot of your iPhone.
Force restart an iPhone with Face ID
To force restart iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, or iPhone 13, do the following:
Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the side button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

Thanks for the reply Zooka!

I didn’t try different cables, but I tried the cables in our 21’ F150 and everything worked great. Good thought on the hard reboot… it didn’t work though.. :-/

I guess I’ll just take it in.

I would give another cable a try if you can... I had a cable that did not work in mine but it would work in my wife's Toyota. I had my iPhone box with the original cable in it still gave that a try a worked perfect. Just a thought before taking it in. Also maybe forget the car in the CarPlay setting and have it find it again (on your iPhone - Setting, General, then CarPlay - select the vehicle and then forget it.
