Hello, I have placed an order for a 2025 Ford Explorer ST back in December 3 and my dealership is telling me that the keypad is a dealer option not a factory option can someone confirm this with me thank you so much… also is there a difference one way or the other? If it gets set up by the dealer and it gets through the truck faster? I’ve heard differing things on that too.

From what I have read, the keypad has returned to being installed at the factory since sometime in November 2024.

I don’t think there’s be a difference.

It would depend on whether or not the dealer has it in stock. If they have to order it then it may take just as long.

We picked our 2025 ST up back in October... And we were very surprised that this fully loaded ST ($62k) did not come with the factory keypad. This is a dealer installed option for about $950. We traded in a fully loaded 2022 King Ranch 3.0 explorer that had the factory installed keypad.. After thinking about spending the $950 to add it to the ST my wife and I couldn't remember ever using the keypad on our trade in. Would have been nice if Ford lowered the price of the new ST by $950 but in reality we paid a lot more for basically the same vehicle we traded in.

Ford lists it as a $455 option when ordering to include parts and labor. I ordered mine ($160) and the dealer installed it for $350.

According to the Ford Authority website, the keypad is once again a factory installed option as of 11/25/24 for Job 2 production. It is listed on the Ford website as a $455 stand-alone option. Maybe Ford had enough people complaining it was not an option, or dealers complaining about having to install it. I think it should be a standard item, at least on the higher trim levels, on all their vehicles. One thing that makes them stand apart from the competition. I don't use mine all the time, but find it handy on occasion when I don't have the key or fob on me, and when travelling.
