I get this error about every third time I start it. They can't get me in until 12/2, and it doesn't drive any different when that error is on. Anyone else have/had this issue?

I'd go to an local parts store and have them pull the code.

Sounds like a leak in the air system before the turbos. When I installed a cold side charge pipe with a blowoff valve, the blow off valve didn’t seat properly the first time. Got this same message until everything was seated and sealed up properly. This was on a ‘22.

Just purchased my 2025 Explorer ST last night. Went to garage to obtain radio ID and received Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power notification on dash and on my Ford App. Wasn't planning on this.

2 Dec 24 Update: Have appointment 11 Dec. Dealer pulled data showing manufacturing dates indicating a software update is needed. Seems not so much engine related, rather all wheel drive. I'll post an update once vehicle in done.

3 Dec 24 Update: Dealer called today, said the $500 Amazon gift card they advertised was actually for 2024 Explorers they are trying push off the lot. Have to give dealer credit, they are funding the $500 saying seemed Ford was fraudulent in their advertising. I get those who bemoan "issues" but love the hell out of the vehicle. It is a hoot to drive. Hoping next weeks fix is my last but after laying on the Explorer ST couch, think not!

Wow and I was hopeful that despite my numerous major issues with my first-year ST, that by 2025 Ford would have worked out the bugs over the past 5.5 years!

Do yourself a favor and get a code reader. Preferrably one recommended by Forscan, like OBDLink MX+ bluetooth dongle.

Appreciate recommendation. Have 84 miles on vehicle, most from trip from dealer. Perhaps Ford should include this item along with their spare tire?

I bought my 25 ST late August this year. Now have 3000 miles on it and have this issue today. Mine is currently at my local dealership awaiting diagnosis. This is my vehicles 3rd trip to dealership. First 2 were software updates. Anyone else feel like they are cheaply made? I mean I paid 66 grand and cosmetically speaking mine seems cheap. Door panel loose, carpet seamed horribly, wind through driver door etc. I got the vapor blue and its like the clear coat is messed up cause it water spots horribly

Yeeeep...Have received this code intermittently across 4 different starts over 1,077 miles. It acts to me like a module 'issue' that clearly isn't communicating sporadically with no actual degradation of functionality. I haven't brought mine in yet, but will soon. Sounds like a recall in the making....

I got the wrench today. 2900 miles. Also CEL for exhaust issue twice. First time they replaced O2 sensor. Have an appointment on the 9th for this issue, adding the wrench in too I guess. I'm slotted for a loaner.

Yes they are cheaply made. I established this 5 years ago this week when I picked mine up. Within 2 months I had a Check Engine Light and driver's seat was clicking and popping on turns and bumps. Yours is a mid-cycle refresh and should have been improved after 5 years of stagnation. Guess not! They have decontented it too. The original model year has way more features than the 2025 and cost less too! Over the past 5 years, I've had the fuel pump, catalytic converter, rear camera twice, battery, rear glass for defroster, transmission clutch, front axles, rear differential twice, transfer case twice, driver's seat side panel twice, window switch chrome all replaced. LOL This is my support group here! I am crazy to still kinda love the damn thing after 5 years of drama. Wednesday is our 5 Year Anniversary!

Well the 2025s are a full refresh so I don’t understand why people think there won’t be problems, especially with Ford’s quality control Do agree though, just had the tranny replaced on my car, and the whole month it was gone I missed it more, just sucks that’s how it has to be.

A full-redesign or all-new platform is different than a mid-cycle refresh. The engines, transmissions, chassis, suspension, major hardware, etc. are all carry-over since 2020. Most of the changes on the 2025 are cosmetic, i.e. new front and rear fascia, wheels, interior and infotainment systems. None of the mechanical design has really changed. Same horsepower and specs across all trim levels.

Just had the wrench show up last night for the first time followed by the message in the connected Ford app indicating Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power. Parked it and went into the gym, came out and it was still on. Stopped at the dispensary and on my way out the light was off again. Wondering if its worth to schedule service for this issue right away? 2522 miles on a 2025 ST I purchased in August of this year.
