I was looking around with Forscan today and checking the codes. Does anyone know if it's possible to manually engage and disengage the AWD actuator with Forscan? I ran the test on the AWD module but they came back ok. I know it's stuck in AWD and wanted to try to cycle the actuator to see if it will come uunstuck.

Try adding Intelligent 4WD to your display screen. That way you see how much power is being sent to the front and rear wheels. You could try switching it in and out of slippery mode also. That mode sends the most power to the front wheels.

Thanks for the help but I’ve already tried that. When the lights went out and I could switch driving modes, I tried Slippery mode as well as Trail mode but it didn’t work. Even in Normal mode I can see power going to the front wheels when I have Intelligent 4WD up.

Well, clearly you have something major going on. Thankfully you still have Powertrain warranty. Hopefully you get it fixed soon.

Yep! Not sure why the actuator is stuck; whether it’s mechanical or electrical, but that’s what comes up. Going in on Wednesday and it should be covered. I’m just hoping they don’t see I had it tuned and give me a hard time! I returned it to stock on Saturday so it will have plenty of time to run through its cycles.

So here is something strange, when I remote start it I don't get any of the warnings/lights and can change drive modes. But, if I start it normally, they all pop up and I can't change drive modes. I've tested it a few times and results are the same. I'm really curious to know what the issue is! I just hope it's something simple they can fix in a day or two. I'll post what the issue was once it's fixed.

How are you remote Starting App or Keyfob?

Both. Tried it a few times each way and got the same results. The only odd thing was that one of the attempts to start by the app failed.

Have you checked your main battery voltage? Sometimes strange things happen when your battery is on the edge of failing. When the door is opened the fuel pump is primed and the Sync powers up, not sure if this happens when remote starting, could be draining the battery close to the failing point just before you push the start button.

You've probably already tried this, I didn't go back and check all the posts but have you disconnected the battery and let it sit for a bit before hooking it back up?

12.7 volts with engine off. I think the motor that engages/disengages the transfer case is bad. It won’t come out of 4WD.

Actually, no. I didn’t want it to erase any codes for when it goes in to Ford on Wednesday.

I get that. That said, if it's a hard fault and it reads like it might be, it will still be there. If not you may have saved yourself a visit.

These vehicles can be full of little Gremlins that pop up and then never show themselves again. I've seen a couple and they never set a code.

I’d like to find a way to cycle the actuator to see if I can get it out of 4WD.

Thank you for information! This is the code it’s throwing. Now that I have an extended license I’m going to see what I can do with Forscan. If I have time today I’m gonna try pulling it off to test it.

Well the vehicle went in this morning and they just called me. Said it needs a new AWD module, there is a broken wire on the L/F ABS sensor and it needs a new Front Half Shaft Speed Sensor. None of it is covered! How the hell does all that go bad at the same time? I asked him if the broken wire could have cause the other two issues and he said "No, it's on a seperate circuit".How does that all just happen at the exact same time? I'm pissed about this and I'm not letting it just slide by! I want to call Ford Care and complain. I already know they are going to say the wire must have been broken when the brakes were installed but they've been on for over a month! How come it's just now showing up? BS! If he comes back and says the warranty that THEY sold me won't cover it I'll flip out!

It's mind boggling how an AWD module is not covered. And speed sensor too for that matter. Problem also is that there is NO consistency--some are getting it covered under Powertrain warranty and some are not. I'd definitely give the Ford customer support line a call in any case. You didn't list all the codes you got. Was it more than C00A6:71? And what are the odds that 3 separate things have failed at the same time.
