I know! I wish I would have written the codes down. There were a few of them. They are saying it all falls under electrical. Of course I disagree. The AWD module should be part of the powertrain! Now they are saying it's going to take 3-4 days to get one! I should have taken it somewhere else. My mom said she had a lot of trouble at this dealership but that was 20+ years ago. Some things never change though.

Well... the old school in me says to take care of the most obvious issue first. Fix the broken wire and see where that takes you. It kind of seems like what you are being told is a shotgun approach. You know, if you replace enough parts, something is bound to fix it.

The broken wire and speed sensor are covered under warranty. I was gonna just buy the module and swap it in myself but it;s located under the carpet under the drivers seat. I just looked it up and the seat has to come out along with the trim. Too much for hands with arthritis. :( It needs some programming also. They are just going to bend me over the counter and go to work!

So I started to get these codes last week. I'm just at 43,000 miles as of today. I saw the Ford TSB 20-2071 and Ford TSB 21-2270 which seems to be exactly the issues and codes I'm having. Did anyone determine if this is covered under the Powertrain Under Warranty? If it is how long did it take and if it isn't how much did it cost? I'm all stock btw

Mine was repaired under powertrain warranty last summer at 42,000 miles free of charge. The half-shaft speed sensor was replaced. Next Monday it will be 4 years with this 2020 ST.

You have a LOT of codes there. When I had the half-shaft speed sensor fail, it was just one code that specifically listed the half-shaft speed sensor. I think you have more going on there. You might have the AWD Module or something else going on.

I had a few of those codes as well as the “Actuator Stuck” and it was the AWD module. It wasn’t covered under the warranty because it’s electrical.

Ok so it's a hit or miss whether they say it's covered. They said they would have to do a $260 diagnosis test before doing anything. If it is under warranty will that get covered or that probably be a separate charge?

I looked up the codes and they all seemed to be related to the TSB. I think the low volt is for my battery being the oe one but nothing has ever come on the dash for that.

None of your codes match the speed sensor TSB codes (C0633, C00A6:07).

Try charging the battery and see what happens. If the battery is low that can cause a lot of gremlins.

My 2020 with 46K miles is at the dealership right now with all codes mentioned above. Service manager says it’s the AWD module as expected based on previous posts here. I replaced speed sensor before taking it in but it didn’t fix the issues. For the guys who had it replaced under warranty - any words of wisdom to get it covered or is it simply at the discretion of the service manager?

Well, Just updating, they replaced the AWD module in the front drivers seat area. I will update this thread with the part number of the module. All said and done was $700 or so , and I got tired of fighting. Oh well. 500 miles or so since and it has been OK. Keeping fingers crossed.
I just Took my 2020 Ford explorer for the same thing AWD Module not communicating. Dealer said it would need to be replaced. estimate $980 i got a call from dealer and they said " good news" the AWD module came way down in price $118.01 now so i saves a few bucks.... it SHOULD BE UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY !!! but anyways I did a google search of the part number L1MZ-7P238-A and the AWD Module is $58.00 now.... Just wanted to share with the group

Yes it should be under powertrain warranty. Find another dealer!

I'm new to this particular forum seeing several similar threads on here, and it seems there are a couple of different issues giving similar warning messages in the cluster. In some instances the actual trouble codes may or may not be listed, and I think that's the key to figuring this stuff out. I also realize not everyone has a means of pulling the codes.

For a 2020 Platinum my mother owns I'm trying to diagnose the following codes: U102F, U0102, U0146, U011D, U0100, and U0418 pulled using FORScan.

These codes are accompanied by the following messages in the cluster "4WD Fault Service Required," "Hill Start Assist Not Available," "Service Advance Trac," "Pre-Collision Assist Not Available," and "Reverse Brake Assist Not Available See Manual" (when shifted into reverse).

I didn't see that OP had posted his codes either but there is a different TSB 23-2061 (attached) out there that isn't getting a lot of press that I can see. This revision was issued late Feb 2023 and it calls for splicing in a body ground wire to the ground circuit (Pin 46) at the TCCM connector under the driver's seat. It mentions all of my codes and the cluster messages so I feel like it might be a better alternative than replacing TCCMs. It also looks like there's potential for the TCCM to lose it's case/body ground through the three mounting studs/nuts. I can't find a copy of the superseded TSB 21-2386 to know what procedure/repair parts changed, when it originally came out, etc. I'll go out on a limb here, but what if some of these TCCMs that have been replaced were perfectly fine and just had a poor case/body ground. Then once a new module was bolted down (and programmed accordingly of course) the case/body ground was restored? Something to thing about especially since the revised TSB adds a new body ground directly to the wiring harness.

Last night I had this issue come up.. First started out when I was backing out of my parking spot at work (hard 90deg reverse), car started binding and TC light came on.. I started driving and heard a couple loud clicks and then all of the lights and warnings came on. I manually disabled TC on the center console and start driving slowly.. Went straight for a 1/4 mile and the lights slowly disappeared one by one..

Only drawback is mine is a late-production 2020 (08/20 build date). I tried installed FordPass on my phone but it said my Vehicle is not supported by the app. I will try to scan it instead of manually typing in the VIN. I don't have a scan tool personally but we have one at the shop, so I hope it triggers a code while I am at work.

Have any late-model 2020's had this same issue, not directly affected by the TSB??

Reviewing this thread. Where did the $980 estimate come from? Was this originally what the dealer said or your own estimate you put together (labor, diagnostic test, parts)?
