Recently had my ST to the Ford Dealer and they gave me a BMW X5 as a loaner, it had that mirror activity when you backed up. I hated it. I like my mirrors stationary and use my cameras as needed.

It's made for when parking on the sidewalks but it only affects passenger side on the BMW. I love it on my BMW, you can easily make it go back up by sliding the mirror adjuster to the passenger.
