most aFe intakes have a plug to pop out for additional airflow and increased sound
the top clear piece looks removeable which woud increase sound quite a bit

not 100% sure obviously but we have aFe intakes for other ST's here that have a pop out

Would lose power gains due to the heat?

Hey Ron, it is potentially removable. The biggest issue the guys at aFe were telling me is that the engine compartments create so much heat that you would start sucking in a ton of hot air. That'd why if.you saw on the prototype, they had an opening, but on the dyno it did much better sealed.off. That being said, if someone wants to hear it and doesn't mind worse performance, then by all means, open it up.

makes sense
although there is a hood out there with a vent in the center that owners are modding to be functional and I know of a guy working with a company on a hood vent as well ;)

We need something for sure. I don’t think I’ve ever had a vehicle that got as hot under the hood as this thing does.

I've been looking at my Shelby KR and if someone could develop a hood like that which could have a ram air effect in with extractors to get the heat out, maybe it could be a functional ram air into the box and then the extractors get all that nasty heat out. Just a thought.

I’d be all over a functioning hood like that. Keep us posted

Ok..... I've tried several times to upload videos to try and get the sound of the intake for those who are asking. For some reason, it's not allowing me to upload either. If anyone wants to help with this, I can email you or text you the two videos. If not, I'm open to suggestions.

Ok, the first video should be the start up and a brief idle. The second is a couple of revs.

Thanks for the advice. I hope they're ok.
Is there an exhaust on there ? if not there is definitely a noticeable suction sound even with the clear window on

No, no exhaust. Exhaust got pulled off a couple of weeks ago so they could go over everything for production. Only mods are aFe Momentum GT, JLT catch can and Turbosmart dual port bov.

Here ya go. I took 2 videos for you. One with the windows open and then another with the windows closed. I really can't hear a difference, but that's just me. Let me know what you think.
