has anyone removed that clear plastic cover from the AFE momentum? i was wondering if you get any more sound out of it by doing that

You may get some sound but you will also let a lot of hot air into the intake.

Is the the air temp in the engine bay really a concern when that air is going to pass through your rather warm turbos on its way to the engine anyway?

Go for it if you don’t care. Underhood temps are hot in the St. As intake air temps rise the computer pulls timing and thus power. Same reason many of us put a bigger intercooler as intake heat kills engine power.
