Man these old wives tales about oiled filters just won’t die. There could be issues with an over oiled filter and MAF sensors. That won’t be an issue on these things. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with using a high quality oiled filter.
@UNBROKEN , what do you recommend? What's wrong with using a dry filter?

Not sure if you ordered yet but when I proceed to checkout from ZFG they charge $15 for shipping for me. Unless you have a coupon code. I found it on Amazon if you have prime it ships free and only charges tax. Much cheaper for me that way and should be delivered within a couple days.
Yep, I seen that.
I didn't order yet.

Now I'm confused .
Dry or oiled.

I still like the reviews I've read comparing AFE, K&N and AEM.

Dang , what's going on?
I just got this in email.

I'm more confused.

Did it ship or didn't it?
I told them yesterday I was done with them.

Nothing wrong with using a quality dry filter. Nothing wrong with using a quality oiled filter either. I’m a Afe guy...they’re one of the best.

I have always used an oiled filter and have never once had an issue with them. Only reason I like the AEM is the price over the AFE and even a little cheaper than the K&N.

That's one of the reasons that I went with the AEM as well, and I've always heard pretty good things about AEM as well. So figured it was worth giving it a go.

so on aFe ' s web site they don't have a air filter showing available for ST? - Advanced FLOW Engineering | aFe POWER
The filter is the same as last generation Explorer Sport. Actually the filter is the same size for all last generation Explorers too. You can check the AEM website and the filter is the same across all trims and past few years.

Not only that, its the same filter thats used in the Edge and the Flex... and I'm sure others... Its certainly not a unique size.

"It didnt process so I am going to put in a request for refund now."

Oh well I might have a old K&N that fits in my collection of old filters,if not the I will try a couple of local auto parts stores.

I'm also lazy and indecisive! So I reluctantly pay for things I could do myself.
I hear you there. In the past, I wouldn't think twice about pulling an engine or pulling the interior out of my 72 SS454 chevelle and that was in the unfreindly climate of Saskatchewan. Got freezer burn more than once holding a wrench at zero degrees. It would take the space heaters a few days to take the chill off in the garage when its -20 to -40 F for daytime highs plus a 20 mph constant wind. Drove home from work one night and it was approaching -45 to -50 F with wind chills at -80F. The seat was a rock and you could hear the speedometer cable turning in its case. The vehicle had a electric block heater and there was also an electric battery blanket otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it started. Doing it myself caused a bulging disc while plumbing beneath a new addition of one of our previous homes. Now I just pay someone else but am fully engaged so they don't screw it up.

Decided to go with the K&N filter I have used K&N in every vehicle I have owned in the past 20 years. I have never had any issues with oil for the filter messing with the MAF sensor. Bonus it was in stock at O'Reillys and I still have a newish recharger kit in the garage. $56 out the door. The factory one was slightly dirty after 2214 miles.
