Almost time to replace 21" Pirellis any recommendation?

I replaced the original Pirellis with the Scorpion Weatheractive, very satisfied with them thus far.

Good to know as that's what I picked up for the OEM rims to replace my stockers. I have 37K on the clock and they are bald. I'll run the new weatheractive's for my winter set and picked up a set of Lexani LX twenty's for my summer 22inch rims. Purchased all 8 tires for less than you can get a set of 4 factory replacements

The Lexani’s are also well regarded. They’re made in the same factory as Lionhart…I’d bet money they’re the same carcass but that’s just a guess.

On my second set of Lionhart LH-Five’s and will buy a 3rd when I wear these out. Don’t let the name or the price fool ya…there’s a reason these tires have such a huge following online. I’d go with a 295/40/21 and fill out that wheel well more. That size tire fits the factory 21 great.

Oh good stuff. Thanks for the recommendation on that size. I'm at 16k and my tires are nearly bald. Terrible life on these stock 21" tires. Gotta see if my local tire shop has these in stock.

Would you say the 295/40 will have better grip over the stock tires with the Lionharts? These tires break loose pretty easily before the fronts kick in for traction.

The extra width will surely help with traction but I doubt your local shop carries them. Virtually everyone orders them from Simple Tire either directly or through eBay.

Yeah my shop didn't have them in stock. They ordered them and will have them in about 6 days unfortunately. $780 installed. Probably a little more expensive then ordering through Simple Tire and finding a place to mount and balance but no biggie on the price difference.

Thanks again for the recommendation. I was considering buying a set of wheels and tires lol. Luckily I didn't get another set of wheels as I already have 4 other sets of wheels laying around for the other cars

Hey unbroken can you run 305/45/22 on a stock setup with no rub? what offset would be needed for that if possible

No you can’t run that tall of a tire. 305/40r22 should fit fine without any rubbing.

What’s the difference? The “RF” are cheaper and I can’t find anywhere that might decide what all the “BSW MW RF” might mean but per the specs the non “RF” are a half pound heavier?!

Why would you go with the stock tire versus a better Michelin or Yokohama setup? Plus they’re cheaper and perform a lot better.

There’s no reason to stay with Pirellis. Expensive not so great performing tires. Can get better for a cheaper price.

I second the Pirelli WeatherActive's. I just put them on a week ago and then got to drive in some serious downpouring rain. As I was about to roll over standing water at highway speeds I found myself getting ready to deal with some hydroplaning that used to happen with the OEM Pirellis but it never came. The WeatherActives handled it great! It was rock solid in the heavy rain. looks like they'll also be better in MN winters as well, but I have Michelin X-ice's for that

The only downside I see with the Weatheractives, is that they are rather loud. I agree that they are amazing in the rain, without a doubt the best tire I've driven on in heavy rain. Not that great in the snow(I have a set of Blizzaks for that). I've had mine on for 35k miles, and I don't think I'll make it to the 65k warranty they have.

Little late to this party.

But, Simpletire is awesome. Got these LH's for right around $700 total - installed a few months ago. I went with the 295/40/21 size on my stock 21s...here is how they look. Also - they ride well and you will get a little wheel spin if you spool up (anything past 2.2K for dig). I don't like (tire) roll...they have a bit of that so I may go higher psi on them. The tires feel great though!

Thanks for the recommendations - will be trying these. Just Ordered 4x LionHart 295/40/21 mobile installer will be here on 8/2 for install. I also agree with many here, more expensive tires doesn't necessarily mean better tire, performance, comfort and so forth. I've also spent thousands on tires during my lifetime to find most times less expensive tires perform the same if not better.

The stock 21" Pirelli Scorpions were not great, just OK.


BTW - I was caught slipping and forgot to remove the metal caps from my air valves and they fused had to pull out the good-ole dremel to cut her loose. Funny how things can fuse in less that 45 days.

@UNBROKEN I appreciate your research and vetting on the LionHart. I finally had them installed and couldn't be happier, skeptical at first but overall i'm happy with the purchase. Tires are surprisingly quiet, perform well in the rain, and balanced really nicely on the machine.
