Any mods i can do without voiding the warranty?

On a side note. there were real instances, where the insurance and warranty repairs were denied because of floormats.
Accidents caused by Third Party 3D mats hindering the working of accelerator pedal and break pedal.

Not an issue for the Explorer with organ type accelerator pedal.

This became a very important criteria in the accessory mat development, when the OEMs started making it themselves.

Almost middle of 2023 and nothing changed with FPT and California..
I guess it's best to go with another tune and forget about warranty..

Oh wait... you can express your individualism with floor mats. This might not be available in Cali as well then, as you are "modifying" it from the factory setup.

So glad I don't live in that junk hole of a state! I have family who lived there since they were born and moved to TX recently and can't believe what they are allowed to do in just day to day life.... I'm in AZ, but we are also the same, not all crazy watched/controlled by the government either... Except emissions, but that is the std (set by cali) in all 49 states now, since cali has their own stricter now.

On the Ford performance parts website it states that trailer towing not recommended? Why? I'm assuming you can still put it in tow mode, right?

I mean...I can see why towing isn't recommended if you're at the track (haha) but I don't see how squeezing a little performance out of the engine would make towing a problem if you're still operating the vehicle as recommended. Weird.

Just saw this at the Ford "accessories" site...to clarify, installed at a Ford dealership, this will NOT void the warrantee? I've got the 7 year bumper to bumper, so I don't want to risk that...but +30 horse for $825? Has anybody looked into this further?

Seeing that the Ford Performance tune shortens up the factory power train warranty. It would most likely void the power train warranty with the extended warranty also.

There is no doubt. It will only keep 3 year/36k miles powertrain warranty.

OK, lots of talk about tune, but there are more modifications for vehicles than TUNE.
Maybe we can talk about other things that would not void warranty, and improve the general performance.

- Rear anti-sway bar ?
- Front strut brace ? (Stamped flat steel in the front... on a 4500lb vehicle - lol)
- Steeda bushing plates ?
- FMIC ? (I can see a dealer trying to get out of warranty coverage for this, especially premature turbo failure)
- Charge pipes ? (I can see a dealer trying to get out of warranty coverage for this, especially premature turbo failure)
- Air intake ? (I can see a dealer trying to get out of warranty coverage for this, especially any engine failure)
- Poly Suspension bushings ?
- Lowering springs ?
- Big brake kits ?

Now, some things may be easily removable for service, and although I would find it to be disingenuous to try and claim warranty if say, my engine blew and I had ported my heads and clogged up oil flow parts with debris - I wouldn't necessarily feel that way if I hadn't changed boost at all and had full Intake, IC and charge pipes that were properly tight and the engine failed from unrelated failures.
But I imagine the OP has more insight into what they were looking for

According to a law passed in 1982 a dealer has to directly attribute a problem to the aftermarket part. Those are all great parts that won’t affect anything when installed properly. If the parts do go out and cause a problem, that is when the aftermarket warranty for the part comes in. That is why it is important to get installation from an ASE certified tech.

Yes the law stated dealer must demonstrate aftermarket part caused the failure. But we all know how this goes. Dealer denies service and it becomes your responsibility to get a lawyer and force their hand unfortunately.

Some dealers are honest and know what they are doing and some blow. Haven’t had a need for a dealer visit but when I drove GM I had a relationship with the service advisor and mechanics. I would frequently visit them working on my trucks, shoot the bull, and flip him a $20 or so. I never had a drivetrain warranty denied and all my vehicles have been modded while under warranty.

Having said that I never requested warranty coverage when I blew my heavily modded CTSV motor at Road America because it was pushing 800rwhp

Agreed. Just because the law states so, it makes it hard to force their hand.

yea When the dealer says no , who really has the money to waste on a lawyer and try to b ring the dealership to a court to fight over some friggen things that would end up costing less to fix then to get the lawyer !!!!!!!

Im not sure.... I just got my trans replaced. And I am pretty much full bolt on.

AFE Intake
Fenfab hot/cold charge pipes w HKS Blow Off Valve
Fenfab Downpipes
Thermal 3 Inch
ZFG E50 Tune

Thats it for performance but theres bunch more
