Anyone try to cut grille backing?

Does anyone know why the top half of our grille is blocked off by a thin piece of black plastic? Anyone try to dremel or otherwise cut this out to allow more airflow to the intercooler and rad?

If you had it apart and see how it’s a sealed piece to force air through the radiator stack you wouldn’t want to change it anymore.

I did take the grill off to install some amber marker lights but forgot to check on the removability of the backing. Looking at your build thread, however, i'll take your word for it Unbroken! Ty
