Interestingly, when I called Sheehy Ford Gaithersburg today to tell them the recall didn't fix the camera issue, the advisor told me they have a camera specialist. Also, I had a problem with part of my rear defrost grid not working and the elements are peeling off. He also said they have a glass specialist who will work on that problem. When the parts arrive, he will have both specialists on site to work on my vehicle. Crossing my fingers!
My dealer said they replaced the camera. I'm beginning to wonder if that is true and not just BS.

Brought my car in for the recall, didn't resolve the issue. Brought it in again and they did the same recall, didn't resolve the issue. They finally got approval to change the backup camera. Still not resolved. I just deal with it at this point I hate wasting time at the dealership and not having my car.

I'm no engineer or technician, but if they update software, replace the camera and IPMB, then what's left? It should work like new. Oddly, mine was great for about a year and then started acting up at around a year of ownership and has progressively gotten worse.

Just picked up a 2020 Explorer 2 weeks ago and my rear camera goes out about once every 3 to 4 days along with the backup detection error on the screen. The dealer had the car for a few months before they sold it to me. I would think they knew about it before they sold it to me. I restart the car and it fixes the issue. Does not happen when its raining. Going to hook it up to FORSCAN and see if i see any errors. My dealer does not like to be bothered unless a code comes up. I previously had a lincoln MKX. Took it in for an issue with the PTU. was charged 250 bucks for service in which they did not do anything. Was charged because there was no code found. Even though the car was under warranty!!! i bought it CPO with 12k miles on it.

There's a recall and I discussed it above. The software update for IPMB didn't fix the problem so now they put in a new rear camera last Wednesday. Let's see if it happens again! The recall was issued back in November. I had it done mid-January then a month later it acted up again. Some here have replaced the IPMB too.

My theory after reading posts on here and the facebook group, is that there's some module on the passenger side floor area for the backup. I took out my all weather mats to wash them and then put them back in. Once i did that I believe that's when my blue screen started happening.

I've had random issues with the blue screen. It's been into the dealership multiple times. Today when I got the blue screen, I unplugged my iPhone and shortly the camera was working again. Is it a problem with Apple CarPlay? Has anyone else noticed this?

I had the recall and about a month later it started again. Then I had the camera replaced and now it rarely goes blue and when it does it's for a second only. Before the camera replacement, it would go blue and wouldn't come back until you restarted the system. I don't use Apple Carplay or Android Auto. I'm on the latest version of Sync.

Also my second trip to the dealer, although I don't think the did anything at the first dealership. Took it to another dealer and they programmed the IPMB module and replaced the rear camera, so far so good!
Six months later and the blue screen just returned, I will take it in and let them take another shot.

Two more visits and the blue screen returned within 24 hrs, now they say they will contact Ford Support and get back to me.

However, the warning sreen on the dash no longer pops up and camera still works fine. I have no idea what corrected it.

It rarely goes blue anymore or get the message and if it happens it's only for 2 seconds. It has been almost 5 months for me since the camera was replaced.

I had mine replaced twice. The first time, everything worked well but I went in for a water leak in the right rear quarter panel which drowned one of my nav and radio modules and they replaced my rear view camera again since it was still listed as a recall. I think they must have installed one from an Aviator because the new one has incredible resolution. Night and day over the original ST camera. I didn't have a chance to ask since I didn't check it when I left, but this new one is incedible compared to the stock. The image sizes are all the same but the images are night and day clearer.

One interesting item is that along with the back up camera blue screen repair, a number of other alert messages, mostly regarding transmission status (would only run in normal mode default), collision alert, and some others, the repair made the auto tans shut off at stop lights not activate. That automatically set feature is no longer activated.

Does anyone have a copy of the original recall letter? I shredded mine and I thought it had the instructions to repair the unused pin on the connector, unless I'm wrong. Thanks!

Your dealer service department will have the information. I gave up keeping track of all the recalls and TSB issues and had them check. They did, inspected my ST for a number of issues, ordered parts and a couple of months later got parts and fixed everything over two days in shop. All warranty covered, no charges.

Well to my surprise & after almost 3 years my backup camera issue might be coming to an end.
I had at least 2 quick fixes and they didn't work. I was ready to suck it up and live with the problem.
I went in for some work and the 30k mile checkup. I wasn't even going to mention the camera, but I did.
The manger said he would take a look but I wasn't expecting much.
Well he calls me and said that the the camera issue recall is not on myST according to my VIN

Therefore, The defective camera is a warranty issue and I will be getting a new camera Go Figure

But I still have this issue now at 37.5k and they don’t want to accept responsibility. Anyone have a number to Ford to address this? I get it could’ve been a supply chain issue. But come on. This is a known problem that wasn’t properly repaired.

Back in March, my dealer flat out said if the software update doesn't solve the problem they will order me a new rear camera. So far for the past 4-5 months that seems to have been the solution, a new camera and updated software.
