I have only 2 issues - midrange speakers in the door are horrendous. The rattling/buzzing/vibrating/humming that I experience in songs is enough to drive me mad.

Volume - even at max volume it is not loud enough. Especially with windows down

I need to upgrade it somehow - if anyone has any suggestions on where they started im all ears. I’m not looking for competition level stereo, just something I can turn up loudly and not have distortion - those door speakers....ughh!!!

VW jetta, had a rental that was insane
:ROFLMAO:, Jetta is an awfully small cabin compared to a ST.
Last week I drove a "Lesser" Explorer while my front camera was being replaced. The very first thing I noticed was it had a stock sound system and I had to turn the volume up twice as high as I do in the ST with the B&O in my ST and even at that level I had trouble deciphering the lyrics to most songs. The B&O is a really, really good system... :)

Ok I may be hard of hearing BUT I experience NONE of these complaints.
Even at half volume mine is super loud, I haven't attempted to go to full volume.
I suspect that you just may have a defective unit and or speakers...

Fair observation - but maybe disregard the volume comment. I do have slight clinical hearing loss. Probably from listening to my music too loudly

I too have a significant hearing loss from years and years of aviation noise exposure BUT I have not experienced the rattling buzzing and humming you have from my B&O system.
I would still suppose that yours has a defect...

It’s not a defect, it’s caused by the door panels. If you were to remove one, hold it up and tap the panel with a knuckle you would hear all the rattles due to the way the panels are constructed. Those rattles translate into audible noises when the speakers are working.
It can be fixed with a combination of butyl rope, Tessa tape, CLD and CCF...I have probably 4-5 hours work in each door but they’re dead now.

My wife's Edge Titanium has the same B&O system without the amp and it sounds great. My ST doesn't sound as good as hers. I wonder if my unit is defective. Good luck convincing service to change it.

If it was so, then why do I not have the same problem?

Could be a number of things...from manufacturing tolerances to the way you have your audio settings set up. I’ve checked quite a few...it’s the door panels.

I feel the same way. I keep it under 25 to be comfortable most of the time unless I have windows down.

Let's just say this ... this B&O 985-watt system in our Explorer is FAR superior to the Sony we had in our F-150 Platinum. No comparison at all!! I love the sound ... but then again I listen mostly to classical (non-opera), sound tracks, etc. Star Wars sounds awesome!! :geek:

Cheers!!

Ken
I agree 100%, also the Bose in my Z06 sounded hollow compared to the ST B&O. Come to think of it, the Bose sounded like ass in every generation corvette I have owned. C5,C6 and C7. I love the C8 convertible but I ran out of garage space!

I WANT to use the surround feature, but sometimes the Stereo setting just sounds better to me.
Music was meant to be 2 channel. Except the Eagles SACD Hotel California. LOL

I had an MKC , 2018, factory sound that was darn good.

But

This B&O is far superior.

I'm hard of hearing also, but this thing is great for us.

This is a solid system, coming from the Acura ELS system as a comparison. I optimized my settings as follows: Treble 7, Mid 8 and Bass at 4 out of 10. My volume is typically set at 12.
The only shortcoming is when you sit in the middle row it sounds two dimensional given the distance from the center channel and lack of overhead drivers in the rear.

I was working on my sound deadener project today and pulled the sub enclosure out so I figured I would slap some scrap CLD on it to see if it would improve things. The oem plastic enclosure is thin and sounds like an empty beer can when you tap on it. Deadening it, along with the rest of the stuff I’ve done with interior panel treatments, doors etc has actually made a noticeable improvement. I’m still gonna yank it all out but it’s at least a little better now. I can actually get some impact out of it now.

Sounds like garbage in the SS sedan as well, I replaced all the Bose garbage with some Infinities and ran them off the stock amp and put a sub in the trunk, sounds infinitely better.
