Battery replacement? UGH

Mine failed under warranty and was replaced for no cost by the dealer.

Takes literally 2 minutes to get to it.
Pull the push pins around the perimeter of the trim, lift the whole trim piece up towards the hood and the groove that fits onto the bottom of the windshield will release and you can set the whole panel out of the way. The cover on top of the battery just snaps on….pop that off, remove the terminals and push the wire out of the way and unscrew the hold down.
There’s absolutely nothing hard about it. There’s more than enough room to work in there.

Very cool! Thx for the info, I dont need to change it yet, but just snooping around under the hood, it looked like a PITA gettin the shroud moved.

Dumb question for you since you're super knowledgeable -- I replaced my OEM battery with an EverStart AGM, but it didn't come with a plug for the unused vent side. And I can't find anything on the net or at Autozone. Heck, they had NO idea what I was talking about and clearly don't plug the unused vent. What should I do?

I did read about that, but my battery only came with a plastic post cover. No rubber to be found.

I don't know about the rest of you, but for the 2020 ST model the cover / shroud on the inside you need to remove the clips and screw clamps from, it doesn't detach from the vehicle like I'm seeing on the non-ST models in the videos. It looks to be attached with adhesive. That makes getting behind the battery to remove the clamp with the 8mm nut physically impossible for me. I hate to have to throw in the towel on this one but I might have to have it serviced just to replace the battery.

I have a 2020 and thought the same thing. But no, you just need to be a bit rough and pull the trim hard from along the windshield. There are clips there. I did it and didn’t break anything, but yeah it definitely seemed like it wasn’t going anywhere until I got frustrated and was a bit aggressive

I've got that from two sources now, you and AAA service. So, I'll give this thing a go in the morning. Wow I miss the days of simple battery replacements

It detaches. Guaranteed.

I had a mobile service do it. Be careful with the plastic screw in clips on the shroud cover. It is ggod to order spares as they can be hard to find in auto supply stores. Whole process is more time consuming these days but can be done at home.

Home Depot has them! “Specialty fasteners”

edit: lowes, actually. Just went into Home Depot and didn’t see them, but lowes had them as I remembered.
