How can union mfgr compete with imports utilizing non union labor?

I honestly don't think Ford over priced the Explorer ST compared to competitors like the Durango SRT, but these deep discounts are kind of troubling to see

Your right the ST is different animal although if it were under 50k I think they'd really move
I have a xlt loaner now for about a week. Its bare options with 2.3 4cyl EB and awd. Can be bought for 30k which imo is in line with its competitors. I will say it's a very nice suv and I'm impressed with how it drive and the power. Mpg for us has been 27 hghway and 21 avg. Dang good imo.
Is it possible suv sales are down across the spectrum?

As the article points out, the big rebates are on the XLT & Limited Explorers, not on the ST which has accounted for 1/3 of all Explorer sales. I have to believe that Ford is taking a similar promotional/pricing approach as the F150 which is to heavily promote the volume leaders XL/XLT's in the F150's, the higher end F150's get much less incentives. I agree with NWExplorerST, the ST is priced about right based on the fact there is nothing like it performance wise in this price segment. I live in NY, the total rebates on the XLT/Limited is $4750 and $1500-$2000 on the ST through 12/2/19.
