Blade antenna color

The blade antenna on my 2022 ST is black which is fine since it matches the black roof rails and all the other black trim on my Rapid Red. I have noticed the antenna on some other ST’s is painted body color. Wondering if this is a model year difference, a part shortage issue, just random, or something else.

My 2020 is white, same as paint. I did think they made them all black after MY20, but I guess not. The 2020 does have nicer looking roof rails, in my opinion.

I noticed this difference too. Our '21 ST has a black antenna on our Rapid Red. But there is a Rapid Red ST in the parking lot of my wife's work that has a color matched antenna. I don't know which model year it is however.

I don't think you can buy a color-matched antenna...they are all black. That said, they should be color matched but at Chicago, anything goes.

When was yours built? Mine was in November during the second week of production for the 2022 models.

What is different with the 2020 roof rails?

Our '20 is color matched. All black antennas = cheaper for Ford. some bean counter figured out they could save a few bucks that way.

So far does not look like a cost cutting issue as I also would have assumed since ones built both before and after mine are color matched. Seems more like an availability issue maybe.

Could be the option package selected. My ‘21 Rapid Red is body color, built March 2021, arrived at the dealer and purchased in April.

The original on my 2020, was the same colour as the body. But it needed replacing as the GPS/Satellite Radio wasn’t working. The new one is black. But looks good since the roof rails are black.
