Blind spot mirror doodad criteria?

ST parked on side of house. Fire it up & it warns me about the wall to the left of the vehicle.
Only time it seems to work, lived here for a decade & I'm aware of where the wall is.
It was giving warnings on a freeway last week every time time there was a vehicle to the left or right.... Did I accidentally disable it somehow?

Mine only works when parked next to the house. At least that's how it's been this week.

There are proximity warnings for all four sides and corners when parking or moving slowly. And there is blind spot monitoring. Two different features.
