Sorry, meant that as a question, based on the statement “bc update is out now as well”.
I like BC but probably wont drop the 495 unless I see that ford is going to be making an update available to the explorer, as they have for some of the other models shipped with 1.2. Haven’t gotten to use the ACC to much as BC takes over in most of the areas I’m using it.
If you have a bunch of points built up, you can buy a year. But there isn’t a lot of bc roads out here. So I’ll wait to renew when needed.
I use the acc more than I have to but its fine for me.

As far as I know it doesn’t detect you “gripping” the wheel, it detects the slightest motion your hands makes turning it left or right.
At least that’s the way it is in my F-150.
So what you wiggle the wheel when it tells you to put your hands on the wheel on the straightaways? I had thought it would be something pressure sensor / capacitive sensor based.

A few things here. I got my 2025 explorer ST at the very end of September, days before the price cut and the one-time purchase was announced. I called BlueCruise support today - very nice, but they punted it back to the dealership, as they were unable to offer me the one-time price, stating it's only available at time of purchase (it wasn't yet an option for me), and maybe the dealership would be able to make an exception (they didn't). So now my only options are annual or monthly.

Regarding the steering wheel, even when I'm at 10/2, it's not sensing my hands on the steering wheel occasionally. I really wish I knew HOW it sensed hands on the steering wheel, as maybe then I could adjust my hands. Perhaps it's because I'm just resting hands and not actively gripping the wheel hard on the straightaway roads?
OK to answer a few things, they can not offer you the one time purchase now because it has been too long, there was only a 14 day grace period from the day it was first offered which was I believe October 1st, 2024 so its been longer than that 14 days. They also kicked me back to the dealer but I got mine on October 30th so I was still in that 14 day grace period, but the dealer still tried to deny me until I mentioned how the lady on the app number Blue Cruise section told me about the 14 day period. I also said to the dealer that would be pretty crappy if I could not get it when I bought my car less than 24 hours before it was offered, so I think I persuaded them a little with all that. I also joked that I was within the 2 week cooling off period and could just return and repurchase the car LOL (not that I would have). So I think all that was in my favor in my case. Second we have already established above that the wheel senses movement and not the grip, so if your not using the Blue Cruise then it works by movement of the wheel so instead of just gripping it move it side to side a bit or put a little resistance on it. When you are using Blue Cruise you do not have to touch the wheel at all unless it tells you to and it wont do that unless either it cant see the lines of the road, or your in an unmapped spot (as not all roads are mapped) which they call "Blue Zones", or the camera and radar can't determine what's in front of you. I was in some heavy rain once and mine would not even turn on where I knew it should and where it usually activates. So hope this clears up a few things and helps someone. Oh sorry also forgot to mention when using the Blue Cruise and maybe even just the adaptive it also uses the sensor on the steering wheel to check your eyes to make sure your looking at the road and you can only look away for about 30 seconds or so before it will alert you. There is also a tiny camera up above to the right of your head in the grooved mirror thingy (sorry not sure what to call it), so smile next time ya get in lol.

Ever so slight nudge is all it takes.

Does the little spy camera transmit anywhere? Where is that data stored at and can we access it?

That I do not know, I don't think so though, I think it just helps to see if you fall asleep or something so it can alert you and also maybe if your in a crash they (police insurance etc...) can get maybe get access to the footage to see the position of your head etc..

Tried it on I78 in PA for about 15 minutes. I don't trust it, but needed to try it while I have 1 month remaining on the included subscription.
