Hi,

Been looking at the Borla S-type. Wondering if anyone was/is disappointed? I do hate drone.

Watched the YouTube video that showed the more popular exhausts and liked the S. The Atak sounded fun, but I like my neighbors.

I used to have a 2018 Raptor and replaced the exhaust with the Ford Performance Sport Exhaust. It was okay, just felt like I spent $$$ for a louder, raspier noise. Looking back i would not do that again. For my 2019 GT, I put in an S pipe and loved it.

Not really looking for performance upgrade. Just a much better sound and no drone.

Thanks.

Just run around in Sport mode and listen to the FENG - you already paid 60,000 for that gem.

I have the Borla S Type and think they are perfect. Been cruising through Germany into Austria and no issues with droning at all even with cruise set at 100 mph. They sound nice too going through Mountains and tunnels. Glad I chose these. Just enough to sound aggressive.

If all you want is a change in sound just swap the mufflers out at a local shop for 1/4 the price. Borla uses stock size piping and keeps the stock mid-pipe. You’re basically paying $1200ish for a muffler swap. MRT also makes a mid-muffler delete pipe that sounds pretty good leaving only the rear mufflers. That and changing the tips would be a good option also.

Thanks. I thought about that, could not find any sound clips of options. Only thing that really comes up are complete cat back systems. Ideas?

I put mine on a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it. It depends on taste for sure, but one of the things that drew me to the AMG GLA45 beyond it being a fun go-kart, was the exhaust sound. IMO it has a similar sound to most of the German Sport SUV's that I've driven. If that's what you're into then I say go for it. If you are looking for more of a hotrod sound these are not the pipes for you.

Installed mine a couple days ago. Couldn't be more happy. Not remotely noising while cruising on the highway but can def hear it when you mash the gas.

Had mine for a few weeks. Love it. No issues. Might just be me but it does seem to get a bit louder after a week or so break in. I originally thought I would want the louder Atak but glad I went S type

I am getting the Borla Atak with chrome tips installed this coming Saturday. Was going to get the black tipped one but it was not in stock.

I just realized he was talking about the mid pipe delete and not the muffler delete. But there’s little to no drone at all. It’s only loud on cold starts and WOT.

Ran across the same issue on the “S”. Chrome being installed, black tips on back order and Carbon Fiber just too expensive.

I just installed the Thermal R&D downpipe back exhaust and it sounds and looks great. Thanks Ron from Woosh Motorsports. This is 2.5" all the way and I am impressed with the quality. No drone at all and pretty quiet at low rpm. Now what do I do with the gigantic stock setup? It is about 7 feet long and all welded. Does anyone think there is any value to it? I am sure you will be happy with the Borla as well. Tommy

I installed the s-type several months ago and love it. First vehicle with exhaust for me. Only issue I had was I had to go back and drop the mufflers and cut off the bolts sticking down through the floor pan because they kept rattling against the mufflers.

Junk yards always take that kind of stuff.

I think I'm also going to go with the Thermal R&D catback and downpipes. Gotta wait until later this year though, damn lawyers and ex wife sucking up all my money this year so far, but at least that's almost done. And then me and the new gf need a vacation lol. Ugh....

Quick question. I’m getting the Borla S installed in about 2 weeks. Any value in the stock exhaust? I hate things just sitting around the garage. If worth something then maybe, if only a couple bucks, or salvage, then I’ll just let the dealer keep. Thoughts?
