Brake caliper upgrades?

Any specifics on the difference between the basic ST and the red calipers? Are they actually bigger in some way? Rotors the same diameter and width?

Has anyone found a monoblock caliper that would fit? Seems like most of the 2020s left are base brakes and 20" wheels (which frankly I prefer), but I would feel like I'm missing out brakes wise if the red calipers are bigger with bigger rotors...

I personally would not consider an ST without the Street package.

Hmm, yup that's what I was worried about, lol. I suppose a rotor upgrade isn't that hard, but that'd also require a calipers.

Probably not worth it.

I actually have someone in line to do some measurements for me to adapt either 6-piston Brembos from the GT or CTS-V calipers. Going to work on this after the holidays. I'd love it if I could get the carbon ceramics from my vette on the ST......but the cost is ridiculous.

Mounting spread is 140mm.
Corvette C6/C7 CCM rear calipers have smaller pistons so they are not suitable for Explorer front.
Aftermarket brake upgrade/replacement like those available for Jeep SRT8 is probably a better alternative than OE's performance brake upgrade.

Yes, in fact we have an offer using Jeep SRT8 WK2 (2012+) 6 pot calipers (w/380x34mm rotors) for a 100% bolt on installation to Explorer's spindle - without modification (No spacers, no adaptors, no trim & cut) - All design criteria and OE parts are in our possession so no try and error.

Another alternative option is to consider RB 6 pot caliper (380x34mm rotors) kit (including rotors, pads, calipers, adaptors, and hardware.) which as you can see from the pic, our 6 pot constructin is more refined.

Any idea when this will be avaliable? Website shows a pre-order status. This would be my first DIY project and I would be interested in buying this kit for my ST.

The rotor kit is being made but since they are not available yet so we can only accept pre-orders so customer would know there is a leadtime.

Yes, the rotor kit includes rotor and pad (optional) and customer has to acquire a pair of Jeep WK2 SRT8 calipers (6 pot) as shown in the pic from Dodge dealer or eBay.

I personally would not consider an ST without the Street package.

No regret for base model owners. You keep $1600 upgrade charge in your pocket and purchase only the rear RED calipers (from Ford dealer or eBay*), after that you are 100% free to upgrade your Base ST to Sports brake and beyond.

Picture below illustrating a longer bracket is being made available for rear BBK, but stock size bracket can also be made available for base model.

*If you order from Ford dealers caliper and bracket are two separate parts but if on eBay they often come together.

You can purchase them from Jeep/Dodge dealers (68146610/11AA (Right/Left)-$734.40+$55 for core/ea) Or Search eBay for used calipers for about 1/2 of the price ($380)::
The brake pad pin and spring kit are extra from dealer, but may be included in used units.

About $800 each according to their ad.

I would and did. Too many ppl complaining about the calipers either completely falling apart and peeling on the optional street pack brakes. Save your money and get brakes and wheels you really want. That's the only difference. Not too mention the "regular " brakes on the ST are actually perfectly fine for street use.
