Brake Controller

Just purchased 25 ST. Dealer stated the vehicle comes with brake controller and built in. I cannot find this documented anywhere and of course think he lied to get the sale. I will be towing small double axle cargo that has electric brakes. Heavy towing is done with F-450 but for small stuff the ST should work and more comfortable. Vehicle came with 4 and 7 way plug at receiver.

Q: Is the brake controller really built in? If so where can I access settings, gain, etc? If not who has installed one. Can a factory one be installed (I'd prefer this over aftermarket).

No, there is no factory trailer brake control. I don’t think Ford offers one for the Explorer either.

No link!

The isn't a brake controller but the wiring is there for an aftermarket one. Here is a thread where some have installed them. Brake Controller

I didn’t want to mount an aftermarket under dash. Redrac (sp?) makes one with a knob you can mount making it almost look oem but not compatible with explorer according to etrailer???

decided to try below. Don’t like the fact not having the ability to apply trailer brakes manually in an emergency but never had to before so….. Don’t tow anything that large with explorer. Rv gets f450.

The etrailer website is kind of hosed at this time. They do show the Redac available for the 2025 Explorer.

You could call the customer service to confirm, they say they are online now.
